After a weekend of festivities and hiking in the forest, I have really been enjoying time spent reading, journaling, and just hanging at my parent's garden. The homebody in me is telling me to stay put and simply enjoy the simple luxuries of a new journal and a cozy place to be. And I am doing just that!
I know that some people prefer to go on adventures and explore new places but ... I am one of those people that prefers to rest and relax when on vacation. Probably because vacation is the only time I get a break from the manual labor involved in building our own home and gardening.
There is something super special about this visit to my homelands. After a couple of years being pet-free, my mom has finally decided to adopt a kitten!!
At least that was the plan; to adopt one kitten. Once we arrived at the cat foster home and were confronted with nearly a dozen cute fur-balls, things changed. The foster mom asked if we were interested in adopting not only the grey kitten my mom had her eye on but also her best friend. My mom (a life long cat lover) caved immediately and we ended up returning home with two <3
Here they are; Gigi is the grey tabby and Spice is the calico. They aren't from the same litter though they were picked up in the same place. We guess that they are about three weeks apart in age. Maybe they are cousins, maybe half sisters, we don't know. They are indeed best friends and despite being born feral, are adapting to being mostly indoor kittens and discovering all the best nap spots in my parent's suburban home.
