I attended a writers’ conference this weekend at a beautiful remote resort in northern Minnesota called Jack Pines.

I always love this event. The writing group that hosts it publishes an anthology each year. I’ve had the privilege of having one or two of my creative writing pieces published in the anthology each year for four years in a row.

I enjoyed taking a walk around the trail they have created for ATVs. It’s designed to be a fun and exhilarating route for the vehicles, with lots of short steep hills, which makes it a good walking course too. I only had to jump off the trail for the ATVs once.

Check out how the trail just seems to disappear! That just means there’s a steep decline just on the other side of the hill.

Now lets take a peruse all the signs along the trail — reminding the riders to be safe, etc.

The resort is called Jack Pines and it’s in Osage Minnesota. I had a cute little cabin called Smokey’s Hideaway.
