Today I drove about fifty kilometers to the central part of Istra, the peninsula on which I live, and took a walk there.
I parked on the small clearance by the side of the road ...
... where I photographed these beautiful grains of pollen ...
... that looked great on the vivid red anthers ...
... in the center of the showy flowers ...
... of the Geranium macrorrhizum.
This young nymph of the Leptophyes laticauda bushcricket was resting on the leaf of the plant.
It's a cloudy Wednesday, hot and humid, and the light under the trees was pretty low. So I used the flash of my camera in these macro shots.
In ambient light, those flowers looked slightly different.
While sniffing around the lush, intricate vegetation bordering the narrow path that leads through the woods ...
... I noticed another interesting plant.
This is the fresh shoot of the Dioscorea communis. While the rest of the plant is poisonous, these shoots that appear in springtime are delicious when coocvked or fried, very similar to the shoots of wild asparagus. After taking this close-up shot ...
... I continued into the woods.
A little more than a kilometer further, I came across something shiny in the vegetation near the path that I was following.
A look through the macro lens revealed a matting pair of Chrysolina fastuosa leaf beetles.
After some more walking, two or three kilometers - I think ...
... I came across a small church that I have never seen before.
The year 1714 was engraved in the stone above the door but later at home while preparing this post, I found out on the Internet that the church was renovated and slightly changed in that year.
St. Mary Magdalene was first built in the 13th century.
I photographed these flowers that someone left in the window, and then took another path towards the asphalt road and, more or less, the place where my car was parked.
On the way back I encountered many red poppies (Papaver rhoeas) ...
... and various other flowers. Among them, these Dictamnus albus definitively stood out.
AND THAT'S IT. HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE WALK. AS ALWAYS IN THESE POSTS ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK - THE END.
