4-Ingredient Homemade Bread 🍞 I'm So Proud! (ENG-ESP)
This was my second time working with yeast, and I am so incredibly proud of myself! 🥺 Bread always seemed like an incredibly difficult recipe to make -- very time-consuming and sensitive... No more excuses! Yesterday I committed to trying out this recipe, and I was not disappointed! Now I will be able to make a variety of different things: pasta, pizza, desserts, and more! 🙏
First, here are all 4 ingredients that you will need in order to make bread:
▢ 3 and ¼ cups bread flour
▢ 2 teaspoons active yeast
▢ 2 teaspoons coarse salt
▢ 1 and ½ cups warm water
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, yeast, and salt. Pour in the warm water and gently mix together with a wooden spoon. The dough should be slightly sticky. Shape it into a ball as best you can.
Cover the bowl of dough tightly with plastic wrap and set on the counter. I like to put a warm, damp towel over the bowl as well 👍 Allow it to rise for 2-3 hours. The dough will nearly double in size, stick to the sides of the bowl, and have lots of air bubbles!
Some recipes will highly recommend that you let the dough rest in the fridge for a day or two. I decided to put mine in the fridge for about 12 hours. This is what I was left with:
Once you're ready, place the dough onto a floured surface. Using a sharp knife, cut the dough in half. Place the halves onto prepared baking sheet. Shape them into 2 long loaves. Then place the loaves in the oven (NOT turned on!) and allow to rest for another 45 minutes (I know 😩🙄).
After 45 minutes, take the loaves out and preheat the oven to 475. Using a very sharp knife again, score the bread loaves with 3 slashes. Then place them in the oven on the center rack. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown. Gently tap the loaves -- if they sound hollow, the bread is done! This was mine:
