My First Attempt at Cooking Spicy Tuna Sisig with Pork Chicharon | A Simple Yet Satisfying Brunch
Hello, Hive Food Community! 👋
Today, I'd like to share the simple yet satisfying brunch that I prepared this morning. What started as a late breakfast turned into a delicious brunch featuring my first-ever homemade spicy tuna sisig with pork chicharon.
I woke up at around 10:00 in the morning, which was a little later than usual. Since I was taking my time and wasn't in a rush, I only got to prepare my meal close to 12 noon. At that point, it was no longer breakfast. It had officially become brunch! 😅
As I was thinking about what to cook, I remembered that I still had two cans of Century Tuna sitting in my kitchen. I also had some spices available, so an idea suddenly came to mind. Why not make spicy tuna sisig?
To complete my idea, I went to the nearby sari-sari store and bought mayonnaise and pork chicharon. They were the perfect additions to the dish. I wasn't following any recipe or watching any tutorial. I simply used what I had at home and trusted my instincts. Sometimes, the best meals come from random cravings and a little creativity.
After combining everything together, I was pleasantly surprised by the result. The tuna was flavorful, the spices added a nice kick, the mayonnaise made it creamy, and the pork chicharon gave it that crunchy texture that made every bite enjoyable.
Of course, no brunch would be complete without rice. I paired my spicy tuna sisig with white rice, which happened to be leftover rice from last night's dinner. But honestly, why not? Hahaha! As long as it's still good to eat, there's nothing wrong with enjoying leftovers and avoiding food waste.
To make the meal even better, I prepared a cup of coffee to go with it. The combination of spicy tuna sisig, warm rice, and coffee was surprisingly satisfying. It was the kind of meal that instantly lifted my mood and made me appreciate a slow and relaxing morning.
What made this brunch even more special was the fact that this was my first time cooking tuna sisig. I've eaten different versions before, but I had never tried making one myself. I wasn't sure how it would turn out, especially since I wasn't following any procedure, but thankfully, it exceeded my expectations.
Sisig has always been one of my comfort foods, so being able to enjoy a homemade version made this brunch feel extra rewarding. It's amazing how a few simple ingredients can come together to create something delicious and comforting.
Overall, I was very satisfied with what I cooked. It may not have been a fancy dish, but it was exactly what I was craving. My late breakfast turned into a wonderful brunch that left me full, happy, and ready to start the rest of my day.
Thank you for stopping by and reading my food diary for today. Have you ever created a dish just by using whatever ingredients you had at home? I'd love to hear about it in the comments!
Until my next food adventure, happy eating, Everyone! ☕🍚🐟❤️
