I was in Walmart the other day shopping, and I was using self checkout because, well, they kind of force you to now. It is either check yourself out or wait in line for 30 minutes with one stupid item. (By the way I could write a whole dissertation about how ridiculous it is that some people I know won't shop at Walmart because they are unethical, but post constant pics of their Amazon arrivals. Color me impressed by the mental gymnastics one must put themselves through to accomplish that level of hypocrisy. However I digress.)
(Dat me lately Doe)
Sooo getting back to the story at hand...
I was buying a few things for an upcoming video I am making, and it is going to be super funny, and ya'll will be the first to see it, but I was ringing my stuff in and I was wearing my purple HODL shirt!
(It looks just like this only...purple!)
The cashier who kind of walks around to make sure people aren't stealing shit, kept staring at me, and it was making me nervous. I don't know why, I wasn't stealing anything, but I always get anxious when I feel like someone is looking at me.
Eventually he walked up to me, and I was like "Oh Lord, what now?" I was pleasantly surprised however when he asked me about my shirt. He recognized HODL but didn't know what the font was. I told him about Steem, and what would have been a 2 minute checkout became a nearly 20 minute conversation. (Sorry, Walmart, but there was probably like loads of shit stolen while we were having this convo. My apologies.)
He left our conversation very excited about checking out Steemit, and I was excited to have gained a new Steemian by merely wearing a shirt out in public, and at Wally World of all places. He too was convinced that we are headed for economic collapse and had already invested some money into Bitcoin and a few other cryptos. It's amazing who you will meet that you can strike up a convo about crypto with!
I guess I shared this rando story to pump everyone up a bit. I know the price of Steem is still in the toilet, but honestly, I think things will only get better. We can still recruit and spread the word, and I think that's pretty cool.
Hope you are all having a lovely start to your fall!
PS - I am a HUGE Downton Abbey nerd, and I dressed up for the premiere over the weekend! I thought I would share the pic with you! I had a lot of fun! Plus, I don't get too fancy much anymore, so it's like seeing a pic of the Loch Ness Monster!
xx - Beth
