Hello Hivers! This is the first time I ever prepare something for New Year's Eve. I decided to go on an make a sweet since there's this tradition of eating a kind of chocolate cake during the dinner. This is an expensive cake for the cherries and other ingredients. So, I decided to try something that haunts me often an an amateur baker: a brownie.

This is my second entry for my Culinary Adventures Log. On this new year, I'll make sure to showcase all those recipes I try to make and also those that come from my mother and grandmother.

I have made several. They end up as cakie brownies. I don't like that. But I tried a recipe I saw on the internet and the result was better. That was the one I made for Christmas. Since that had good results I tried it again and it seems it works.

These are the ingredients:

QuantityIngredient
1/2 cupAll purpose wheat flour
1/3 cupcocoa powder
3/4 cupGranulated sugar
45gSalted butter
1 1/2 teaspoonVanilla extract
2Whole eggs
1 barUnsweetened dark chocolate
1 1/2 teaspoonBaking powder

Preparation:

  • Sift the cocoa powder and flour and add the baking powder. Whisk all these ingredients.

  • Melt the butter. Let it cool down. Once it is cool, mix it with sugar and eggs. Try to incorporate as much air as possible. Add the vanilla to this mixture.

  • Now add the dry ingredients and mix without whisking too much (trying to prevent developing too much gluten).

-Grease a container for baking. It can by anything that can withstand a 200°C temperature in the oven. I used a glass container.

With this simple steps you can make your brownie. The Christmas one was awesome, this have some variants as bakery is all about experimenting on the things you do and adjusting recipes to your likes. For example, I don't like brownies being too sweet.

This is yet to be tasted. It has been sitting for me hours in the kitchen but the dinner is about to begin while I finish to write this post.

I'll take this chance to send my best wishes to all Hivers around the world. I hope this new year is full of opportunities and creativity for new posts. May the rewards pool favor your account and your growth be the help a new Hiver needs to get started around here.

If you try the recipe or finding interesting, let me know about it.
