Today, I’m going to tell you about some beautiful dogs belonging to a friend of mine in El Tigre. She runs a shop where her "blessings"—her dogs—are always by her side, and everyone who visits the shopping center loves to spoil them. They’ve become a major attraction for visitors and even serve as the "models" for her shop's marketing.
Their names are Luna and Venus; they are Golden Retrievers—sisters from different litters. At first, Luna was the center of attention, but eventually, Venus joined the mix, and Luna looked after her as if she were her own daughter.
Last Christmas, Luna got spooked by fireworks set off before the main holiday rush; she bolted and ended up having an accident. In her panic, she didn't see a hole containing exposed rebar; she fell in and broke one of her front legs.
Because of this, she spent nearly six months undergoing therapy and wearing a cast—I can't recall if she actually had surgery—but getting her to put weight on that leg properly again was no easy task.
We were all keeping a close eye on her recovery, and thank God—and thanks to her doggy mom's care—she is doing much better now. She put on quite a bit of weight during those months because she wasn't going out for runs with her little sister anymore, though her sister played with her a lot; sometimes she would forget the pain in her leg, stand up, and take a few steps before falling down again.
Fireworks are always a source of anxiety for those of us who have pets and are animal advocates, because we know how much they affect them. The trickiest part about the day of Luna's accident was that they were in a shopping center where children were present; it was just an ordinary Christmas day, right in the middle of the day, and no one imagined fireworks would be set off. It’s a complicated situation.
I love going to the supermarket in that shopping center because I enjoy watching them play in the aisles. The children adore them. Now Venus and Luna have company—a new little sister; I’m not sure if they share the same mom. She is just a puppy. I love seeing them act as models for their owners' brand, because with such sweethearts around, who wouldn't stop to make a purchase?

Hoy les voy a hablar de unas perritas hermosas de una amiga en El Tigre. Ella tiene un local comercial y sus bendiciones siempre están con ella ahí, y todos los que llegan al centro comercial las consienten. Se han convertido en la atracción de todos los que visitan el lugar, y también son las modelos del marketing de su local.
Ellas son Luna y Venus, dos perritas Golden Retriever que son hermanitas de partos diferentes. Al principio, la protagonista de la atención era Luna, y al tiempo se unió Venus, a quien ella cuidaba como si fuera su hija.
En la navidad pasada, producto de los fuegos artificiales antes de las fechas más intensas, Luna se asustó y salió corriendo, y posteriormente accidentandose. En la misma desesperación, no vió un hueco con unas cabillas, y al caer ahí, se partió una de sus patas delanteras.
Por esa razón pasó casi medio año entre terapias, yeso, no recuerdo si la operaron, pero no fue fácil lograr que ella volviera a afincar bien su patita.
Todos estábamos pendientes de su recuperación, y gracias a Dios, y a los cuidados de su mamá perruna, ella ya está bastante mejor. Se puso muy gordita en esos meses porque ya no salía a correr con su hermanita, aunque ésta jugaba mucho con ella y a veces olvidaba el dolor de la patita y se levantaba y daba pasos hasta que caía de nuevo.
La situación de los fuegos artificiales siempre es una angustia para los que tenemos mascotas y somos proteccionistas, porque sabemos cuánto los afecta. Lo más delicado del día del accidente de Luna, es que estaban en un sitio comercial donde había niños, era un día cualquiera de navidad, en pleno día, y nadie imaginó que lanzarian fuegos artificiales. Es complicado.
Me encanta cuando voy al Súper mercado que está en ese centro comercial, porque disfruto viéndolas jugar por los corredores. Los niños las adoran. Ahora Venus y Luna tienen compañía, una nueva hermanita que no sé si es de la misma mamá. Ella aún está cachorrita. Me encanta verlas siendo las modelos que patrocinan la marca de sus papis, porque con esas dulzuras, ¿Quién no se acerca a comprar?
