Step by Step Plating Fries
There are boiled taro in my kitchen. The idea came up to make Taro Fries but they were roasted, not fried. I imagined what it would be like.
While preparing the taro to finish baking, I think about what sauce is suitable as a complement to the taste of Taro Fries. My choice is on the peanut sauce.
It's time to play again with the complementary plating sauce for this snack. The sauce is indeed the most important thing in the art of plating, it is like the paint used on canvas.
I also made a special homemade peanut sauce for the plating session.
ROASTED TARO FRIES
Roasted Taro Fries, which have been roasted at 250 degrees Celcius for 40-60 minutes.
I am amazed by the crispy texture of these Taro fries. For the record, enjoy it while it's warm. If the Taro Fries are cold, they can become hard in texture and may also become mushy.
ABOUT SAUCE
In this Taro Fries plating session, I made two versions of the sauce. In the basic sauce, I make peanut sauce that is slightly thickened like caramel.
In the second version, I made a peanut sauce that was slightly melted, but still creamy. Sauces like these are usually used as vegetable salad dressings in Indonesia.
Adding a Leaf for Detail
I am thinking about what elements will detail my plating in the future. Then I had the idea of using a bowl-shaped leaf in my garden.
I named this plant "the bowl plant" because the leaves are shaped like a bowl. Last year I purposely planted this plant for plating purposes.
I use a leaf of this bowl for a tightly textured sauce container.
Have you ever seen a leaf-like this?
PLATING SESSION
At first, I had a hard time getting my homemade peanut sauce out of the sauce bottle. It made the sauce that the dishes formed very ugly.
I had to repeat a few times to get a pretty good-looking sauce pattern.
Then I focused on arranging Taro Fries. This is quite a challenge because my plate is made of ceramic, so it is quite slippery and makes the Taro Fries slide easily.
I have to be careful that the arrangement of my Taro Fries doesn't spoil the peanut sauce pattern I made earlier.
After placing the sauce on a leaf of the bowl, I proceeded to form the sauces into tiny dots.
THE RESULTS
Finally, I created two plating versions of Taro Fries. There is not much difference between the two. Which version do you prefer?
