I love to cook. I'm usually a pretty good cook but I have a hard time without the right ingredients and lack of small appliances.
I do manage despite setbacks.
My Daughter isn't a huge fan of tomatoes sauces- she prefers oil or butter with dry garlic powder and salt. Though that's one of my favourite ways to dress pasta, I can't leave it at that every time.
Yesterday, I decided to attempt a cream sauce which I found bland until adding the "damage control" ingredient at the last minute.
Here's last night's dinner:
- I tossed spaghetti pasta into the sauce pan
- I prefer the deep sauce pan for spaghetti because the long pieces fit perfectly and cook evenly. It also allows me to either prep sauce in with pasta when it's finished or nearly finished cooking or easily poor sauce into pan after simmering in pot.
- when the pasta was complete, I stirred in a cup of (vegan) milk, 2 tbl (table) spoons of (vegan) butter, 1 tsp (teaspoon) of onion powder, a shit ton of powdered garlic, a pinch a paprika, and salt and pepper.
- I wished I had fresh lemon to zest in.
- stirring as the sauce simmered, floor was sifted in to suit a desired level of thickness
- not failing to understand that floor and liquid will continue to set after being taken off the stove
I added some picked jalapeno to the plate for color and a little extra flavor.
Still, I found the final product to be boring so, being the resourceful cookie that I am, I poored some of the liquid from the jalapeno jar onto the noodles. 馃崪 馃槏馃槏馃槏馃槏 prefect!!
Creamy jalepeno fettuccini!!!
