Every evening, she placed two cups of tea on the table. One for herself and one for the son who had stopped coming home. Years had passed since he left the small town to build a better life. At first, he called everyday. Then every week. slowly, the calls become shorter, and eventually, they became rare.
His mother never complained. Whenever someone asked about him, she smiled and said, "he is busy building his future."
She never told them that she still waited for his footsteps outside the door. One rainy evening, her son finally came home. He found the house smaller than he remembered. The walls were older, the garden was quieter, and his mother's chair stood near the window.
He walked inside and whispered AMMI?.....
There was no answer. on the table was a cup of tea--- cold, but freshly prepared. beside it lay a small handwritten note :
" i knew you would come back one day. I only wish i could waited a little longer"
He sat down in silence. For the first time he noticed the empty chair beside him. the chair where his mother had waited for years. and suddenly, he understood something success never taught him that:
" Sometimes the people who love us the most do not ask for anything. they simply wait. and sometimes, by the time we realize their value , all we have left is an empty chair and a lifetime of memories.
