In January 2022 I realized something strange, although I was going through the motions, I was doing the things I was supposed to do, I was not making progress.
For example one of the things I was not advancing with, was writing my book; what's strange is that I was writing every day -so I was doing what I was supposed to do, but I was not making progress. How is this possible?
Well, it's because it doesn't matter what you do, it matters how you do it.
For example, let's say that you want to say "I love you" to your significant other. Now imagine for a second you just go and say it in a very weird almost robotic-like way; "I.love.you." no emotion, just words; You did it, but will your partner feel that you actually mean it? Will they feel loved? No; because it matters how you do it.
Well, in the same way, although I was writing every day, I was pushing writing later and later in the day, and eventually, I would settle with something that would not necessarily be good for publishing in the book but just good enough so I check to write off my list. And this is how I was writing but not making much progress with my book.
Which made me realize this; Being slightly off-the-mark, or slightly off-track is a lot more dangerous than being way of-track and out on the fields.
By doing something that closely resembles what you should be doing, but it's not really the thing that will get you there, you will live under the impression that you are doing progress, when in fact you are not. Fake action leads to fake progress.
When you're clearly off the mark, you can see there is a problem -and that's great. But when you are just slightly off track you think you are doing great when in fact you have a problem and you don't know it.
Taking action is important but you have to see what your actions create, or what they are leading up to, and if that's not the thing that you want well at least now you know you have to do something about it.
You don't evaluate your actions by asking yourself did I do it, but you evaluate your progress towards your goal by asking -am I doing it right?
