You know what you need to do
Now, this one can be a bit harder to do, as at least from my experience, there is always so much noise in the mind that distracts from what matters. In my life, I was like a worker, when given a task, I would do it, when said to jump, I asked how high. Not to sound too crude but this is exactly why we are put into the system super early, while we can be impressed easily. How can I child know what is right or wrong? They can't, so they naturally listen to what the adults say, even if what is said, is a half-truth or a blatant lie.
Who am I looking permission from?
My core target would have to be my family. I was always thought that obedience is the key, that I have to obey authority figures, whoever that may be. Now, I will say, there's a time and place for that.
What I am talking about is, just doing what others request/demand out of you, simply because that's what they want. I have lived the version of my life that my parents wanted me. Go get a degree, go get a job, go get this and if you had a car, it would have made it easier. Yeah, easier, for you, not me. Just because someone says something doesn't it make it your responsibility to do so.
Need to start somewhere
I would rather not be bitter in my life because I was listening to everyone else on what I "should be doing" ,so little by little, I have been practicing the art of saying 'no'. Can you do this for us? No! Can you help with this etc. etc.
Family is important but we all have our own lives and dreams, nothing can be achieved if I would always listen to what my parents say. You can't expect a mechanic to do a heart surgery or vice versa, listen to people who know their stuff in a particular area, nobody can be good at everything, so there's no way that my family can.
Keep going, keep improving.
