18 September 2026, Freewriters Community Daily Writing Prompt Day 3230: don’t take my photograph
“Don't take my photograph yet … I gotta get more glitter on my good side first!”
“Like you have the key to the glitter cabinet!” Capt. R.E. Ludlow said to the retreating back of eight-year-old Edwina Ludlow, his middle granddaughter.
“Oh yeah,” Edwina said as she turned around and ran back. “I am going to need that, Papa!”
“Do you remember why you don't have the key to the glitter cabinet, Edwina?”
“Well, yeah, but you can hardly expect me to be out here photographed with my face naked.”
“But you forgot that the purple in your deep spiritual purple is spiritual, Edwina.”
“Yeah, but, you weren't supposed to remember that.”
“Yeah, but you are so pretty it is hard to miss, Edwina.”
“Okay, Papa, okay – you win this one!”
And Capt. Ludlow put the camera down so his granddaughter could jump up into his arms and kiss him, and be kissed and snuggled before she ran off to play.
“I wasn't even planning to take photos of the family today,” he later said to his wife, Mrs. Thalia Ludlow. “I was just trying to find out if this thing still works!”
“Well, when it comes to our local fashion model, every opportunity is just that,” Mrs. Ludlow said.
“Bonus points for that child looking every which way to convince me to give the key up to the glitter cabinet,” Capt. Ludlow said, “but I'm not signing us up for Glittapocalypse 2: Dumb and Dumber.”
“I thought you looked good as a human disco ball,” Mrs. Ludlow said, “but I think you look good in everything, so... .”
