Once upon a time, there was a vast and dense green jungle called Anandapur. In that jungle lived a small, restless squirrel named Miku. Miku was very intelligent, but he had a big problem—he would get extremely scared at the sight of any small task and would think that the task seemed impossibly difficult.
One morning, Miku’s mother called him and said, "Miku, all your friends will come to our house this afternoon. I will make a big apple pie. Can you bring five ripe red apples from the jungle?" Hearing his mother’s words, Miku furrowed his brows. He thought to himself, "Five apples! Climbing that big tree, searching for just the right red apples, and then bringing them down... Oh, this is such a tough task!"
He walked along the forest path with a heavy heart. Just then, he met the oldest and wisest turtle in the forest, Grandfather Goutu. Seeing Miku’s glum face, Grandfather Goutu asked, "What’s wrong, Miku? Why does your face look so sad early in the morning?"
Miku sighed and said, "Don’t ask, Grandfather! Mom has asked me to bring five ripe apples. She is going to make the pie. But the task is so difficult! I can’t figure out how to do it."
Grandfather Goutu burst out laughing. Then he said, "Oh Miku, why are you thinking of the task as a huge mountain? You should always break big tasks into smaller pieces. First, just look for a good apple tree. Can you do that?" Miku replied, "Yes, I can do that." "Then climb the tree and pick just the first apple. You will pick them one by one. You’ll see, the task will become as easy as water. Then you will say to yourself—Easy Peasy!"
Hearing Grandfather’s words, Miku felt a bit of courage. He said, "Okay Grandfather, I will try." Now, Miku set off, hopping towards the apple orchard. Standing in front of the huge orchard, he paused for a moment. But then he remembered his grandfather's words. Instead of looking at the entire orchard, he focused on the smallest apple tree right in front of him. He quickly climbed the tree. Looking around, he spotted a magnificent bright red apple. He picked it and placed it down, saying, "Wow, I got one!"
Next, he searched for the second apple. There was a bigger one a bit higher up. Miku carefully climbed and picked that one too. One by one, as he brought down the fifth apple, he was amazed himself! Indeed, the task wasn’t difficult at all! In a burst of joy, Miku jumped up and shouted, "Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!"
He happily returned home with a basket full of apples. In the afternoon, when his mother made hot apple pie, Miku feasted on it with his friends. From that day on, Miku never feared any task. Whenever a difficult task came his way, he would smile and say, "Oh, this is Easy Peasy!"
