During battles in Splinterlands you get different mana caps such as low, mid and high mana battles.
Today while playing a battle I got a 99 mana battle. This was definitely a tough battle for me because I do not have many strong monster cards or enough high mana cards to fully use all 99 mana. Since it was a new experience for me I thought I should share it with you.
In this 99 mana battle there were three battle rules. First I will explain those rules and then I will tell you about the strategy I used and how I implemented my plan.
The first ruleset was Maneuvers.
MANEUVERS
This is a very important ruleset for melee attackers because every unit whether on your team or the opponent's team gains the Reach ability.
This means you can place melee attackers in the second position and they can still attack.
It gives you more flexibility because almost any melee attacker can be placed in the second position and still deal damage.
The second ruleset was Close Range.
CLOSE RANGE
With this ruleset, all units gain the Close Range ability.
This means that ranged attackers can attack even if they are placed in the first position.
If you have a ranged monster with high health and armor in your dec, you must select and place it in the front line and take full advantage of this ruleset.
The third ruleset was TIs But Scratches.
TIS BUT SCRATCHES
In this ruleset every unit gains the Cripple ability.
Cripple reduces the targets maximum health by 1 after every successful attack. This means every successful hit permanently lowers the enemy monster's health.
Because of this ruleset it is better to choose monsters with high health since their health keeps decreasing after every successful hit.
This ability does not affect monsters with Immunity. If you select a monster with the Immunity ability then this ruleset will not affect that monster.
For this battle I selected an Archon that gives +1 Health so all of my monsters would have more health.
For my first position, I selected a strong tank with the Heal ability so it could recover health every round.
My second monster was another melee attacker because every unit would have Reach, allowing it to attack from the second position.
After that I focused on choosing ranged attackers and magic attackers so I could deal as much damage as possible to the enemy team.
In total I selected six monsters but I was only able to use 55 mana because I did not have enough high mana cards to fill all 99 mana.
Since this battle had high health monsters and heavy damage, it lasted for quite a long time.
The opponent also had a similar strategy. They placed a powerful tank with Heal in the front line so it could recover health every round.
At the beginning the battle was very balanced but as both teams kept landing successful attacks, monsters started getting eliminated one by one.
The good thing was that I had selected several heavy damage dealers including Kicking Roc, which had 3 melee attack. Its powerful attacks dealt heavy damage to the enemy team.
In the end I won the battle and it was great victory for me.
What would be your strategy in this mana battle and such rulesets? What monsters you prefer the most? will be glad to see your answers in the comment section.
