A few weeks ago, this bakery near where I live was remodeled. It used to be a pretty simple place where you could buy bread, soda, and the occasional sweet treat, but it had really shown its age. I hadn’t even shopped there in a while because the bakery looked pretty empty, and I guess that’s why they sold it—the new owners decided to do something very different, which was definitely needed in this neighborhood.
Caricuao feels like a separate country from Venezuela; nobody wants to come here because it’s so far away, hahaha, living here is pretty comfortable because you get to enjoy a “cool” climate (or at least when it’s hot, it’s not as hot as in other places); the area is pretty quiet—it’s rare for anything to disturb the peace. Sometimes people make a racket on the weekends, but not to the point where it keeps you from sleeping, like in other popular parts of Caracas, But one thing this place lacks is modernization. I feel like we’re stuck in time, and when a place like this gets updated, it’s something truly wonderful for everyone—it’s a unique spot where we can go to spend the afternoon, enjoy a delicious meal with the family, and be surrounded by neighbors and acquaintances.
And it was great to visit this place for the first time and have a different kind of experience. I finally got to go and see for myself that what people were saying on social media was true. We had pizza and desserts—everything was really good. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting it to be that great, since I don’t think everyone makes pizza well, and desserts sometimes taste stale, but that wasn’t the case here. The pizza was spectacular—a thin-crust four-cheese pizza just the way I like it, cooked to perfection, with an explosion of flavors that left me speechless.
The service from the girl who took my order was excellent, although the one who brought us our desserts did have a bit of a bad attitude, hahaha—but maybe she was stressed, or maybe she was just having a rough day. Even so, we had a great time spending time with the family, and we were left wanting to try more things since they sell everything—desserts, breads, milkshakes, dinners, lunches, cakes—I didn’t even know what to choose.
I loved this place and how it looked from the outside—it's completely different now. Even the spot where we used to sit didn't exist before; they remodeled it really nicely, so we'll definitely be going there more often.
