Tomorrow the kids will have a presentation at school where they’ll have to “dress up” as indigenous people. Honestly, I’m already really tired of this whole thing since it’s something they do EVERY year, so I don’t want to go to too much trouble making a super elaborate costume—I really don’t have time for it, let alone the patience. So, just to make sure he doesn’t go unnoticed, I at least want him to carry a spear, and I’ll probably do his makeup with lines like the ones indigenous people have. I saw that you could make a spear out of paper—it seemed interesting and quite a challenge, since I always mess things up with paper, haha. For some reason, I get really confused watching the videos on how to fold the paper, and everything ends up looking terrible. But anyway, I gave it a try, and even though it turned out a little lopsided, it’ll serve its purpose.
It was way too complicated, and I don't even know how to explain what I did. I'm hoping each image speaks for itself, hahaha, since writing up this kind of project is pretty complicated in my opinion. But anyway, the point is that I used a letter-sized sheet of paper and folded it as shown in the first image (BY THE WAY, I DID THIS BY FOLLOWING A STEP-BY-STEP VIDEO ON TIKTOK—THE GUY WAS DOING IT ALL SUPER FAST, and I had to pause the video every second because he was going way too fast). Then I cut off the excess and unfolded the sheet; it should look like a diamond.
Then I started folding the sheet to create new folds until I had a fold at each corner and in the center of the sheet.
Now that the sheet is divided into equal parts, we fold it using a bit of magic (I don't remember exactly how I did that move) to form a four-sided triangle, and then we fold each corner inward to shape it into an arrow.
It ends up looking like a paraglider, and then we keep folding it until it looks like the third photo above, haha. Sorry, but I'm really having a hard time explaining this… In the end, there are some little “ears” sticking out, and we're going to fold them inward underneath the arrow shape.
Leave it like this, then take another sheet and roll it up to form a tube that will serve as the shaft of our spear. Next, glue the tube together so it doesn't come apart—I used hot glue.
At the tip of the paper stick, we flatten it on both sides to create this diamond shape; in my opinion, this is so the arrow fits better onto the stick. For this step, I think we should use white glue, but I used hot glue instead, and this is how my paper spear turned out.
