Una gansa llega a la ciudad
y entra a una casa, que sola está
sube al escritorio sin preguntar
y revisa lo que ahí hay.

Toma una hoja escrita,
grande y bonita,
se la lleva con prisa,
seguro quiere leer lo que otros opinan.

A goose arrives in town
and walks into a house that’s empty.
She climbs onto the desk without asking
and looks through what’s there.

She picks up a written sheet of paper,
big and beautiful,
and takes it away in a hurry,
she surely wants to read what others have to say.

The goose walks for a while
and arrives at her cherished home,
she places the leaf on a brown rock
and then climbs up to shape something.

Little by little, she shapes it,
and the leaf becomes oval,
she gazes at it longingly for hours,
it is an egg with an exotic appearance.

El sol baja desde lo alto
y se posa en el huevo falso,
permanece un rato
y cuando se va, algo ha cambiado.

Ya no hay un huevo raro,
ahora hay un pájaro estrafalario,
la gansa se emociona demasiado,
por fin tiene el polluelo añorado.

The sun descends from above
and settles on the fake egg,
stays for a while,
and when it leaves, something has changed.

There’s no longer a strange egg,
now there’s a quirky bird,
the goose is overjoyed;
she finally has the chick she’s been longing for.
