In my country, it’s not that common to have toast with “Nutella” for breakfast—well, at least not in my family or among the people I know. For me, that kind of breakfast has always been something extraordinary, like something out of a movie, hahaha. I know it’s not really that spectacular, but for us, it’s quite different and unique. I recently found a pretty inexpensive chocolate spread. I thought it might taste a little bad since I’ve tried others that are also inexpensive but don’t even come close to the taste of Nutella—and of course, Nutella is available here in Venezuela, but it’s very expensive.
The “Shoco” brand seems to be a local brand. I bought it without any expectations because, when comparing a jar of Nutella of the same size to this one, the price difference is huge—the Nutella costs $23, while this Shoco cocoa spread costs almost $4. I was really surprised by how good it tastes; it’s the closest thing to Nutella I’ve ever tried. It’s delicious and, honestly, totally worth it. I bought it to spread on bread and have a little in the afternoons when those little cravings hit, but one day I woke up and remembered those breakfasts I always wanted as a kid—the ones I used to see on TV, with fruit, toast, and hazelnut spread.
cuando vio la mesa, le encanto muchísimo comer esto de desayuno, además que las tostadas tenían un poco de mantequilla y estaban crujientes, eso le dio un toque mas delicioso y tambien acompañado con banana, me encantaría prepararle uno con fresas pero aquí es un poco costosa la fresa, tendría que ir a otro mercado que queda un poco más lejos para conseguirla, pero incluso yo quiero probarla con fresas jaja, a veces se me olvida que soy adulto independiente y puedo hacer cosas diferentes, a veces estamos tan acostumbrado a comer lo mismo que nos cuesta pensar en que otra manera creativa podemos usar las cosas que tenemos
And I wanted to treat my son to this special breakfast; his little eyes lit up when he saw the table, and he absolutely loved having this for breakfast. Plus, the toast had a little butter on it and was crispy, which made them even more delicious, and they were served with a banana. I’d love to make him one with strawberries, but strawberries are a bit expensive here—I’d have to go to another market a little farther away to get them—but even I want to try it with strawberries, haha. Sometimes I forget that I’m an independent adult and can do different things. Sometimes we’re so used to eating the same things that it’s hard for us to think of creative ways to use what we have.
