Last night I noticed that there was a small fire on the mountain, and I was staring at the horizon when suddenly the sky lit up for a second. I thought it was my imagination or just a reflection of something bouncing off my glasses, but then I looked at a small cloud that was right behind the mountain and realized that the cloud was accompanied by lightning that looked spectacular.
And I've always wanted to capture a lightning bolt on camera, so I risked my cell phone by sticking it out the window while I held it—terrified—and started taking lots of photos to try to capture at least one tiny bolt. In person, it looked really scary but also very beautiful at the same time, but it was really hard to catch the right moment. In fact, I took more than 100 photos in a row, and I only managed to salvage a few of them.
Well, in this post I’m showing you the “best ones” I was able to take. It wasn’t easy at all because those lightning bolts last only milliseconds, but even so—even though they didn’t come out very sharp or aren’t completely in frame—I love how these photos look, and this is the first time I’ve dared to photograph lightning, since I’m always afraid I might get electrocuted by one, even if it’s far away, hahaha.
Even when you can only see the clouds, I think these are really beautiful photos because they show the clouds from a different angle, with lighting that looks like something out of a movie.
