Elections have consequences, therefore we're about to lose the NHS, the world's greatest healthcare system, so I'll probably not be able to afford falling sick in the future :)

One of the biggest causes of illness, which is also the most underrated, is stress.

As such, going forward, I shall focus on being as unstressed as possible in addition to keeping healthier than I have ever been. It's an economics thing now see.

One of the chillest yours truly has ever been, on a gondola in Venice

On a more serious note though, the thing I'm most worried about now with this new political arena we are entering is the NHS. Even though I rarely fall sick, and hardly ever use any social medical service, I still believe the NHS is the backbone of this country. I got removed from my GP's list once because I hadn't been in over 10 years. They just assumed I had left the country.

Most people alive in the UK today have only ever known the free at the point of delivery model of healthcare, as such, take it for granted. I saw a video the other day where a journalist interviewed some Brits about the cost of medicine in the United States. The people interviewed were aghast and flabbergasted.

We are spoilt here. We fall sick ( or not), book an appointment with the GP, walk out with our prescription which we redeem at our local pharmacy at zero to minimal cost. Even when we do pay for the drugs, it is the prescription we are paying for, not the drugs! That's why you usually pay the same amount regardless of how expensive the actual medicine is.

As a result, people really don't know what the true price of drugs are, or how much 10 minutes of a doctor's time really costs.

I once heard someone suggest the issuance of dummy invoices to alert patients how much they would have incurred in costs had they not been on the NHS. I think if people were more aware of this, they would treat the service with a lot more respect.

You'd have to sell your house to have kids!

The cost of having a child in a hospital is upwards of £10,000! Can you afford that? Let alone two or three, especially at the age people procreate. You'd need to re-mortgage your house (if you have one that is) to pay for it. God forbid, you have some complications during the birth process. The cost can easily spiral to double or even three times that.

"Insurance will cover it"

Really? All the UK drivers in the house, would you entrust your healthcare cover to those companies that currently "cover" your car? I wouldn't. Besides, we already have the best system in the entire world. Why break it?

Of course, the NHS isn't without it's problems. There are too many people benefiting from it that don't pay a penny into it - health tourist for instance. There are, however, also many people like me who pay into it but hardly ever use it. Even then, I still realise that if I were to ever need it one day, it will be there for me.

I'm not one illness or accident away from being homeless on the streets.

I'm probably being overtly pessimistic, but I heard a lot of noise about Boris being anti-NHS, and following Brexit, he will be doing a lot of trade "negotiations" with the US - including selling off the NHS.

I know other people are also worried about this, but I think other socio-political issues, such as immigration, are more prevalent on people's minds than healthcare. Again, it's because people don't realise how good we have it with the NHS. As a result, they've let that issue fly under the radar.

Anyhow, lets wait and see. Looks like we're about to lose Scotland. We have that to deal with, as well as whatever border get's put up in Ireland/Northern Ireland when Brexit goes through. What about Wales? Gibraltar?

Things are about to get really dramatic people. Again, all I can do is take a chill pill and summon !popcorn and !dramatoken.
