Wohoo! The iPod Nano video is up. Actually, it's been up for a few hours and as expected, there have been no views yet. That's perfectly fine for a channel with only 339 subscribers and no clout yet.
I remember the old days of my Old Cameras channel. It would take many months to even get up to 100 views on a video. Now that happens within the hour. What is required is patience, persistence and passion. (Wait. Did I just come up with a tweetable sentence of 3 P's?).
I dressed up for the event
No I didn't. LOL. I did, however try to colour co-ordinate to give the video a little more visual coherence. I wish I had a better space to create in where I could also control the background and lighting better. I decided to use the natural light coming in through the window this time. Window light is natural and friendly - which is the vibe I'm going for.
I levelled up the thumbnail game
Most of the time I'd usually grab a screenshot from the video, and whack some text on it in Canva. I decided to actually shoot a dedicated thumbnail this time, like I do for my Old Cameras channel. I think a beautiful thumbnail, as well as the title, is important for attracting people to the video.
Talking of titles, I refrained from click-baiting (for now). I don't want to annoy my would-be subscribers so early in the game haha. In due time, when I gain a little bit of trust, I will bring on the click-bait trickery. Sadly it is needed in this game if you're to grab some attention. I was also careful to ensure that the thumbnail doesn't promise too much that the video didn't deliver. That would also be some kind of click bait.
Overall, I'm about 55% happy with the results. The audio is a bit wonky, since I recorded directly into the camera rather than into a microphone. There were too many inputs already and I wanted to keep things simple for now. I only edit with iMovie, so the options are limited anyway.
Most importantly, I'm happy the video is done and uploaded. That is usually the hardest part - starting. Once you get that out of the way, it becomes easier from there on. Of course it isn't my first video on YouTube, far from it. It's not even a new channel per se. It's the first video in the new direction I'm taking the channel though.
As a side note, I'm not abandoning our Steem based video platforms. I'm going to be using Steem as the blog portion of this channel. It means when I go viral on there, some of my subscribers will come over here too. That's the plan anyway.
Anyhow, here is the said video. Don't you all go rushing to view it though.. keep an orderly queue would you? :)
Thanks for stopping by. If you're on YouTube, please consider subscribing to this channel. I am trying to get to 1 thousand subscribers ASAP. I'm about a third of the way there. May thanks.
Peace and Love ✌🏿
