In your journey towards self development and growth, there is an indispensable tool that should come in handy, and that is "self evaluation." You will not be able to know how well you are doing and what you have achieved if you have not evaluated yourself and your achievements. In order for you to fulfil the demands of your existence, you will need to take out a few moments to have a deep reflection on yourself, your actions, your goals and your values. If you cannot tell yourself who you are, someone else will convince you of who you are not.

As part of your self evaluation is a reflection of your strengths and weaknesses. If you do not know your strengths, you will not know what to consolidate on. On the same hand, if you do not know your weaknesses, you will not know how to make the adequate adjustments. The process of examining your strengths and weakness begins with telling yourself the sincere truth without allowing what someone thinks to influence or becloud your sense of judgement. One of the greatest truths that anyone can tell is the one they tell themself. It is through self assessment that you will know your strong point and weak point.

In addition to this, by evaluating and assessing yourself, it will help to give you the required platform to set and refine your goals. For example; if you have things that you have planned to achieve for the year, by today which is the 1st day of the third month, you can do a review and assess the progress you have made since the year began. This will help you to know if you are really on the right track or you have derailed. It will also help you to know if you have achieved anything and what you have achieved, which will also help you to know what else to do. So all these begin with critically evaluating and assessing yourself.

One of the things to know is that the process of self evaluation is not a "one time" event or something that you do once in a while, but it should be part of your lifestyle - what you do "once and again." You need to regularly check yourself and examine what you are doing that you need to do better, what you have not been doing right that you need to correct, or where you need to improve upon. Having dialogue with your own self can help you to improve on your self esteem, foster adaptability with yourself and your environment, and can also lead to self evolution.

This is why, if you want to apply to further your education for example, they will require you to tender the last qualification you have. This is simply a way of showing that you have understood and fulfilled the requirements of where you are now, and that you want to go further. The truth is that the passage to where you are going to is the path that you are now. When you evaluate yourself, you will know if you are making progress or not.

Another significant benefit of self evaluation is that it facilities and enables effective interpersonal relationship. When you have placed value on yourself through self evaluation, you will also know how to value others, which will lead to better relationship and interaction with other people. It is worthy to note that evaluating yourself does not mean criticizing yourself, but it is about balancing your perspective to reflect on what makes the real you. You have to know that the world changes with speed, and to keep up with it, you have to also adjust yourself to flow with the trend. This is only possible when you have observed who you are and what your strengths and weaknesses are.
