The magazine returns this week, now as a curation effort, making it easy to browse through all the #makeithealthy posts from across the community.
This magazine is part of the Make It Healthy Project, along with the interview series Steemit Voices, and recipe-inspiration Make It Healthy LUNCHBOX.
Support for the project is much appreciated. Not only is the intention behind it sincere - hoping to encourage healthy choices by informing, inspiring, and curating - but the person behind it is sincere too in my efforts to be a 'present' mama rather than an 'away' mama, and though I'd love to, I can't do this for free! Feedback and constructive criticism is welcomed too... interesting/not interesting? Let me know!!!

"Kholrabi Pottage with Tomato Juice" by @erikah
Chickpea pasta, and red-lentil pasta - full of fiber and protein - and they both taste very much like “regular” pasta. ~ @plantstoplanks
Peeling bell peppers and tomatoes to make them easier to digest - I peeled the tomatoes by cutting the skin and covering them with boiling-hot water for a few minutes. The skin is easy to remove then. ~ @pusteblume
Goats milk - a natural antioxidant and high in amino acids as well as unsaturated fatty acids which break down dead skin cells. Goats Milk is anti-bacterial as well as being a natural alkaliser. Goats Milk contains selenium and zinc which fight sun damage. It is also packed with vitamins; particularly vitamin A which repairs damaged tissue and reduces wrinkles. The pH of Goats Milk is very close to that of humans. It is also a prebiotic, so if you eat it as cheese or yoghurt you get the double benefit of pre- and pro-biotic! ~ @buckaroo
Lavender - the leaves and flowers can be used fresh and you can also use the buds and stems in dried form. Lavender essential oil is one of the most amazing oils used for skin (burns, scars, sunburns, cuts, wounds, blisters, skin irritations, itching of insect bites). Lavender essential oils is also a terrific treatment for relieving tension headaches, relaxing sore muscles, and amazing for a good night sleep. Renowned for calming, relaxing, soothing properties. ~ @joalvarez
There are foods and nutrients that can help protect against free radicals formed from too much sun - Lycopene is a carotenoid found in foods like watermelon and tomatoes and is known to have beneficial properties in supporting skin health... omega 3 fatty acids can also help support skin health... foods rich in vitamin C protect indirectly by boosting the immune system to deal with skin damage (citrus fruits, bell peppers, strawberries and guava) Broccoli contains vit C and in addition it is high in sulforaphane which has amazing cancer-prevention properties. Basically if you make a delicious leafy green salad with chopped tomatoes, fresh avocado, a small handful of nuts, a squeeze of lemon and a sprinkling of broccoli sprouts with a cup of iced green tea you will be treating your skin very well through your stomach! ~ @runningproject
