Lotus Garden Newsletter for Homesteaders. 2nd September 2020

It's a new month and the start of a new season. Here in the south we're seeing signs of spring and new life. Are you seeing the approach of autumn in the north? I'm hoping the cooler weather means we'll be seeing more garden and homestead posts on Hive as you come in from the cold. 😉

Things happening in the community.

There are lots of writing prompts on the go in the communities at the moment, if you're needing some inspiration. All are welcome to give them a go. @ecotrain has the question of the week which asks our thoughts on why computer games are often based on violence and an impromptu pop up question asks if there are things we can do differently so that people can understand us better.

We are in the second week of the @naturalmedicine challenge which is 'anything goes', in conjunction with Twitter promotion.

@HomeEdders is asking how do you educate? This is open to anyone and even if your children have finished their education years we'd still love to hear about how you approached their education, what worked for you and why.

Then let's not forget, it's the beginning of a new month, so it's once again time to look back at last month in the garden for @simplymike's community garden challenge.

Some highlights of the week

As @nateonsteemit plants he also muses about efficiency and laziness and the modern world which all potentially lead us away from putting our best foot forward with the homesteading lifestyle.

@papa-pepper has an instructional video on cherry bush propagation and as usual he can't help adding in LOTS of other useful tips about his many other crops along the way!

So much specialist food for specific diets available at the supermarkets are full of preservatives and ingredients which can trigger health issues; which is ironic considering many people turn to these diets for health reasons in the first place. If you love your cheese, but can't eat dairy, @amy-goodrich has a solution with this homemade vegan cheese.

While we may love the idea of homesteading as an idyllic lifestyle, sometimes we need a reminder of just how busy this lifestyle can get. @flemingfarm has just that reminder for us!

Each week one of our featured authors will be selected to be a 5% beneficiary of The Lotus Garden newsletter. This week @nateonsteemit will receive this award.

Thank you for stopping by. This week's newsletter was brought to you by @minismallholding.
