Introduction
Hello there! @Saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!
I'm here for this week's Battle Mage Secrets with the featured rule set Going the Distance. It is a rule set where only monsters with range attack may be used in battles.
The Battle that I will show to you this week was from my @agonyaccepted account from which is an alt account I'm using with the NFTY Arcade card delegation and was grinding on the Diamond league of the modern format but before I show you the battle, let us learn more about this rule set.
FEROCITY
Going the Distance | Only monsters with Range ability may be used in battle. Most monsters cannot attack at the 1st position aside from those that have the Close Range ability. |
Cards with Close Range Ability:
These were the cards with the Taunt ability which was mostly avoided when Ferocity ruleset was active. That said, the battle that I will show you will tell a different story.

Opponent's Line- up
My Team
For this battle, we have the featured rule set Ferocity gives the Fury ability on all monsters along with Equal Opportunity so they would also have the Opportunity ability. Given this conditions, my lineup was consist of:
Summoner: I used Conqueror Jacek that gives +2 speed on all ally monsters and with it, it also gives the Scattershot ability where magic and range attacks
target random monsters and Piercing which takes the excess damage from the targets armor to the targets health.
1st Position: Molten Ash Golem has the Close Range ability that allows it to be able to attack at tank position together with Weaken that reduces the health of all opponent monsters as long as it remains on play.
2nd Position: Lava Spider has the Snare ability which removes the Flying ability of the target and will also deal Poison on it.
3rd Position: Lava Launcher aside from having Close Range has the Stun ability which will cause the target to attack.
4th Position: Venari Marksrat has the Martyr ability which will increase all the stats of the monster adjacent to it when it was defeated and acts more as a sacrificial card.
5th Position: Gargoya Devil has the Close Range ability along with Flying ability which increases evasion change by 25% and will make it unaffected by Earthquake damage.
6th Position: Firecaller also has Fury ability which deals double damage on monsters with Taunt together with Martyr as this will be another sacrificial monster to boost the stats of Gargoya Devil.

Here is a replay of the battle which at you can watch at Splinterlands.
Did your Strategy Work?
As there was only one element available for this battle, the monster options was very limited but I was able to fill it with us much Close Range monsters as I can, placing my only Flying monster at the back and then placed it in the middle of 2 monsters with Martyr so that it will gain status boost when the rule set damage take effect and defeated those monsters. As a result, Gargoya Devil has became really powerful and was able to defeat the last monster of the opponent with twice the damage.
