There is always an excuse to avoid doing important things in life. I find many people are ready with their excuses before even the were assigned any task. Excuses are best way to get rid of any additional work. But is it fair to give excuses when it comes to our health or our well being. There are many priority thing to do in life, but if we unable to remain healthy we unable to perform those task efficiently. Our health too need time and if we unable to devote time for our self and for our health, everything going to be ruined. Yesterday, I had this conversation, with a #hive user who is putting up weight lately. He wanted to control his weight gain which is good on his behalf. He asked me about my weight loss journey and asked some tip. I happily shared few, he seems to be interested, but he unable to find time to do it. Before even giving a thought of planning he comes up with his work / family / or other commitment excuses. I found it very strange! A true professional is one who can manage multiple task with ease, but giving up excuses at the cost of ourself is not a good approach towards the life.

A person foremost priority is to take out time of personal well being then they should opt look out for other things. My simple motto in life is that if we are unable to look after ourself, then how could we take care our loved ones. There are many individuals who are dependent on us, and to take care of them, we should give time on our personal well being. There are people who does take out time for personal grooming, but for their health they always do have some ready excuses. An individuals should understand that "the more healthier we remain, the better it is for all the person related to us". If we avoid taking out time for then it may end up with adverse consequences. It is a good situation to highlight one of the important learning from my Dad. He once told me :

"Eat to live, or live to eat?"

The phrase is a complex combination of two things with entirely different meaning. Many people unable to differentiate the true meaning of it is :

  • Eat to live: Few people view food as fuel. They eat simply to stay healthy and survive. Like our older generational people who does manual hard work

  • Live to eat: The other section of the society view food as a major pleasure in life. They love trying new dishes, cooking, and enjoying meals. They are not concerned with the health.

I think we can apply this phrases into putting out wellbeing as foremost priority in life. A good health serves as the absolute foundation for every other human pursuit, capability, and experience. Without physical and mental well being, achieving professional success, enjoying financial wealth, nurturing relationships, and experiencing personal freedom become incredibly difficult, if not impossible.

Less complaining, more moving... or at least more hydrating

There should not be an excuse to avoid, but rather a plan in place to accomodate health first in our daily schedule. There are minor adjustment which can be useful. I remember, when I was on my weight loss schedule, i intentionally used to add more of the phyical activities in our daily activities. Avoiding elevators / escalators using staircase is one of them. Putting our foot in use for covering shorter distances than hiring commuting services are few to name. If we are excusing to avoid such things then surely we are not concerned our health. Unhealthy habits (like poor diet, physical inactivity, or smoking) offer immediate comfort or convenience, while the negative health consequences build up silently and slowly over many years. Work, family obligations, and daily responsibilities make finding time to schedule appointments, exercise, or cook healthy meals feel impossible.

Your health is an investment, not an expense

It is important for individuals to realize that work and family obligations are not good excuses to neglect our health, because our well-being is the foundation required to sustain both our job and our family. Many people only notice health when it breaks down. Proactive self-respect ensures our body does not force a shutdown through illness or exhaustion. We do not need a massive lifestyle overhaul. Adapting micro-habits in our daily lifestyle prevent larger breakdowns. Success in our career, financial security, and relationships all require physical and mental energy. Without health, pursuing these goals becomes difficult or impossible. Money can buy medical treatments, but it cannot guarantee the return of a lost body or mind.

In good faith - Peace!!
