It seems like a lie but only when time begins to pass, I mean that silent force that sustains what we love, what we want or what we have talent for, is when we begin to understand something essential, I mean that that success we were chasing does not exist, as the others said.
What really exists is the ability to bring things to a good conclusion with dignity, truth and presence.
I think it's time to be more selective with our time and energy, to stop putting up with people in our life for being “good” or “kind”.
Anyone who does not contribute, or who does not treat you with respect has no place, you do not need to shout, or make a show, or even act with hostility, it's simply about not being for those who do not deserve you, for example ambitious, exploited, selfish, materialistic people, i.e. interested people who only try to use us for their own benefits, for our talents.
Anyone who only comes to us to get some benefit from us is an interested person. It's that simple, and that kind of people can be kind, but only to get something from you, and usually once they get it they disappear, they disappear...
How to treat these people, the opportunistic people?
For me, the answer is clear, interested people deserve only one thing from us: absence. Because those who do not have the decency to take an interest in you (even more so if they expect something from you) do not deserve our time, our treatment, our attention. And we are not obliged to be their lifeline, their rescue rope. In fact, we are not responsible for the type of life that person has had. It's also not our problem what kind of ambitions they have.
And to avoid misunderstandings, I want to make it clear that I am in favor of helping others, of service. The problem comes when that person who needs something from you is charming to get a benefit and then leaves, disappears or simply ceases to be interested in our situation.
There is a clear difference between a need for help, which a friend, family member or anyone can have and using people as objects. Because when we care about someone we appreciate their support but we don't dismiss them, we take an interest in their situation and that reciprocal attention ends up generating bonds.
There is something that we probably haven't seriously asked ourselves, and that is how many versions of you have you built to make others comfortable? One for the family, one for the couple, one for work. And at some point of adapting so much, of reading the other and adjusting so much, we lose the thread of who we are when there is no one watching you. Of course, it is not easy what it implies to put this into practice, even more so when we have been working for years since the approval of others.
Because the security that comes from within, is the one that does not depend on the other agreeing, validating us, not getting upset with you, that one we have to build when we begin to understand why we need so much to be accepted, what happened when it was really you, what did you learn to avoid to stay safe and reverse all that gear in your present? In the end, when we really work on that, we stop asking for permission to occupy the space that was always ours, and that's where the power of transformation in us comes into play. What do you guys think?.
