Conversion

The brown of the savannah was adorned by the rainbow of grazing animals. Meanwhile, he crouched down with the shotgun at the ready. He mounted his finger on the trigger and the hammer was about to explode the cartridge. He waited for some cloud to cover the inclement sun. "He won't get away," he said to himself, as he adjusted his breathing to the distance of his prey. He inhaled and exhaled to calibrate everything.

Just as he was about to shoot, a breeze kicked up a beam of dust that forced him to cover his eyes, when he opened them he noticed that he had been left alone. All the animals were gone. Without getting up, he took his binoculars and checked his surroundings. He dropped the shotgun and stood up. He took out the bowl and drank some water.

Suddenly a hot breeze ruffled his skin. He was paralyzed. He could not move and the bowl soaked his feet. He felt a strange presence on his back. He closed his eyes trying to regain his strength, when he managed to turn around he saw two big eyes in which he saw himself reflected. He picked up the shotgun and prepared to shoot. The elephant raised its trunk as if pointing, turned and walked with its back to him.

He took aim with the shotgun, but did not have the strength to shoot and, feeling the need to go after the elephant, he began to walk. He came to a spot where an elephant was standing, flexing her hind legs, two female elephants were beside her, caressing her with their trunks. He looked expectantly and realized that she was trying to give birth.

He approached, observed and, looking to the side, took out his knife and made two cuts. The elephant then pushed the calf out. All the elephants barked and the savannah was filled with a festive smell, it seemed that the creation was exultant with joy. The elephant approached and with his trunk caressed the hunter. The clouds began to dance, the trees whispered peace and the hunter decided to walk away, returning home.
