One Christmas I'll Never Forget

I went to the market today to get some food stuff and everywhere was busy, right from the road where I took bike down to the market, the road that I could cross within some seconds took me long to cross today because of how busy it is.

Our community too is full, from your own apartment, you can hear people welcoming their loved ones who have been out for a long. Christmas holiday is such a beautiful season full of love, no wonder, everyone anticipates it.

I have so many special memories from the previous Christmas I celebrated, a special day like that can't just come and go without leaving something we would wish to either go back in time to experience again or never experience at all.

Something that is an advantage to someone can be a disadvantage to another, a day that someone broke through can be the same day another person crashed. I am not a prophet of doom but this same Christmas that we are all anticipating in inorder to celebrate with our loved ones might be the Christmas someone will live to ever regret.

This is why it is very important for us to celebrate this Christmas the right way with the knowledge of what the day is all about. It's indeed a day to have fun but not every kind of fun.

Without any waste of time, I would love to talk about one of the funny experiences I had on Christmas that I can't ever forget. I really can't remember the year but I was still in primary school then.

Every year two months before Christmas my mom used to get us Christmas clothes and lie to us that they belong to our relatives in the village, I think I have said this severally. You know there is always joy when you discover that you have Christmas clothes.

A night before Christmas my mother broke the news to us that those clothes in her box were actually ours, and all of us were overwhelmed with joy. In my home, those days, even if we slaughter Chicken, there must also be a provision for pork. My Dad loves it so much.

24th is often the day for fryings, I was still in the excitement of Christmas clothes when I entered the kitchen and saw mom frying pork. The truth is Whenever I am excited, I eat a lot.

So, I didn't hesitate, I started eating the meat like someone was pursuing me, my mom tried to warm me about the effect but I gave her no ears. I ate until I was satisfied. The next day, I took my bath peacefully, wore my Christmas clothes, and was preparing to go to church to show off my dress when something moved in my stomach at the speed of light but I didn't mind it.

I went into the kitchen, ate rice and beans, and then topped it with Kunu (gruel) before I came out. When everyone finished preparing, I tried to stand up but I couldn't, my stomach started turning me, making some funny noises, I did all I could to be normal to no avail.

Later, it was as if I want to poo, but I acted like I was fine, my mom came out and said let's go, as soon as I made the first move, the stuff was already coming out, I ran to the restroom.

Shut the door and struggled to remove my belt but the more I struggled to unlock it, the more it tightened. I don't know whether you remember that type of belt that has a magnet as the lock, heheh. That was it.

I kept struggling with that belt but it was not working, the stuff wants to come out and I was not ready to make it spoil my Christmas dress, I didn't know when I screamed from the restroom, "Help me" my dad rushed in and saw me sweating profusely, he asked what happened? at that point I was no longer shy, I told him, I want to poo but my belt was not unlocking.

He laughed at me and tried to unlock it too but it didn't work, I started crying, my problem was I didn't want to poo on my new Christmas clothes and you know, that kind of poo, the more you shake, the more it chances of coming out . my day had to look for a knife and cut the belt.

When I came out my mom started laughing, she said, "I told you to be careful with the way you ate that meat but you wouldn't listen," I looked at her and just laughed. You may think that was the end but throughout that day when I came back from the church, I couldn't go out to showcase my clothes, I was just running to and fro to the toilet. I didn't have any fun that Christmas at all.
