Some time last month I came online on Facebook only to see different kinds of posts from my fellow Nigerians as co-partners with the famous Dangote.

There were so many hilarious posts with crazy captions, the one that caught my attention the most was the video of a popular comedian in Nigeria, Carter Efe, and his crew bathing with Dangote cement.

I just hope that doesn't cause them any harm but it's quite crazy. Nigerians love to catch cruise with almost everything, even things that demand seriousness.

And it's fine but I feel like we need to know where to draw the line, it's not everything that we should joke about. Personally, I think when something serious is turned into a joke, it reduces the worth of that thing even if it's supposed to bring transformation.

Dangote's refinery Initial Public Offer (IPO) is still trending though it is gradually coming to a close and I think it was brought to people with a good intention.

Truth be told, many people in the world have no future investments, most of their income comes and goes into settling bills which is quite understandable but if we only live by attending to needs alone, what of the future?

Instead of giving alms to the people, Dangote and his company decided to teach the people how to catch fish for themselves.

Sincerely, I love the idea, the reward won't come within a day or two. Some people might not even be the ones to enjoy it but in the near future, whether they are around or not, their children or grandchildren would be on their knees thanking them.

The company's share is sold for 525 per share. With this, everyone can have access to the offer. I am very pleased to see that a lot of Nigerians are taking advantage of the opportunity before them.

Dangote is an honorable man and I don't know why I am certain that he would not take the resources of people for granted.

This opportunity is a golden one, although life is full of risk, anything can happen. It may pay off and it may not, but I think those who have given it a chance did well and I am wishing them well.

The offer is still trending everywhere, it's literally on all my microfinance banks. It's very easy for anyone interested to access.

However, there are several controversies about the offer. I saw a post on Facebook from someone who alleged that he once owned shares with Dangote but he received no dividends to date. He claimed he has pursued the case to different courts to no avail.

The truth is people will always talk and try to distort anything that isn't from them. I can't tell whether the man in the picture was telling the truth or not; it's life, anything can happen, what we believe the most can betray us but let's not allow people to discourage us from taking major steps in our lives.

Meanwhile, I couldn't take part in the offer, and it's not because I don't believe in the initiative or anything. I am not quite ready at the moment.
