Hi guys!
I'd like to share some stylized environmental paintings I did a few weeks ago. The goal of these was to try something new. Working in a new style took a lot of getting used to and I was pretty inefficient with the first piece. Once I got more comfortable, the second and third pieces went much faster. I did the third piece in around 3 hours!
For this new style, I referenced a few different pieces of work, but mostly drew inspiration from the Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon - their artists work in a very specific style that I have always wanted to try. It was a super fun challenge.
Once I'd found my footing, I decided to try something more complicated. I was using a reference photo that a friend of mine took of a beach in Big Sur.
The last piece that I did was a painting of a small little house tree. For this, the biggest challenges were the plants. I had to draw a lot of them, and make them all different and interesting without being distracting. Finding the right method for the wood grain was a bit frustrating at first, too.
So that's it! Thanks for checking in, and let me know which piece is your favorite!
