I set out yesterday to explore the town on foot yesterday for #wednesdaywalk. We started in the town square that wraps around historic city hall in our small Canadian town and I fully intended to snap pics along our walk. Turns out our main objective distracted me from that!
We (@town-crier / https://towncriermarketing.ca) recently added a marketing specialist to our team in preparation for a scaling up of business and operations. Surely that tale can be followed on our business blog when I tackle a few negotiations and get around to sitting down to tell you all about it.
As for this #wednesdayWalk post, we were so focussed upon strategizing and meeting with unique businesses, I completely spaced on the actual walking shots. Fear not as the camera did capture some of the bounty discovered on our walk and this bait & switch will pivot to some delectable treats!
Our first stop was at a recently-launched local cafe. They make the trip from a small town about 45 minutes away by car because this is the town they wanted to open a business in. Bri and Tabi seem like a nice couple and the location of the cafe is very good and central. MANY other cafes and bake shops around so they will have a little work ahead of themselves if they want to compete with the digital marketing noise and develop their own following. They are not clients yet but happy to link their new website here at https://www.bakemydayandthebean.com/ Backlinks from all the different webpages making up the front ends of the #hive Blockchain add up quick and are gold to new small businesses over time.
If you were one of those pinching and zooming on the display case for a closer look at the goods, this one is for you. It would have been rude not to sample the baked goods and they specialize in butter tarts. They have a fantastic variety which made it difficult to choose but I opted for the Salted Caramel one. Take my word for it, damn near PERFECT TREAT with the coffee!
As the #Blockchain#Beerologist, I may as well get the beer content in early. Another story I am waiting to tell is our brewing adventures in one of the most epic restaurants in town. We are between the proof of concept stage and the full public reveal because of a pending license. Restaurants, including https://revival.house , require a liquor license and restaurant permits. One might think this would cover preparing and serving beer but one would be wrong. I am not entirely sure if it is called a tied house license but it is along those lines and is necessary if you want to create and serve your own beer. This is a malted golden ale we produced a couple months ago now and I like to sample its twist of caramel whenever I visit.
I made sure to catch a little of the majestic backdrop in the depth of field as I know @shadowspub like seeing this place on #pypt shows.....like the one happening on discord this morning! I can't invite you myself but hit up one of her posts with a comment and or join here https://discord.gg/EyRU7V6 to hang with the Hive Cool Kids.
New Menu!
The main purpose of my visit was not for the beer however. I was invited to sample the new menu from the brand new chef with the staff! We are part of the extended team but is was nice to be included in this private event.
This is one of the new flatbreads which have their own section on the menu. Short Rib Flatbread to be specific with roasted garlic, olive oil, pickled pearl onion, gorgonzola cheese arugula and garlic aioli!
This little slice, taken from my patented EXTREME DRAMATIC CLOSEUP angle, is the Mushroom Flatbread. Roasted garlic, fine herbs, wild mushrooms and grana padano (which I have learned is a cheese originating in northern Italy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grana_Padano)
One more EDC shot to get your moth watering as you perch right on the side of my plate before sampling this one.
The rest of the taste tour was a bit of a journey I will have to share in more depth on the Town Crier business blog. Soups, salads, starters & sharables, mains, sandwiches & burgers flatbreads and all sorts of desserts find their home on this menu and I am excited to tell you the whole story another day.
DOG WARS
A #wendesdaywalk would not be complete for me if I didn't spend time with Gallopy McSnifferson at the dog park. Given the fact that this joyous daily task takes up over an hour every day of my time, it has become a part of the ZP brand. Walking in its truest form is outdoors, in nature, and for the purpose of the purest and simplest form of joy. While I can busy myself endlessly caring for the business and my people, running family to and from events and pastimes, and a perpetually full dance card, it has been liberating to break from all of that and highlight the day for our furry family member. You may get tired of all the pics I take of my little dude unless you are a dog lover like me.
This break and late winter adventure was short lived as I stepped clear into the evening helping with a client emergency and sliding back into taxi duty. Wouldn't have been as perfect a humpday without a break to attend Dog Wars!
G'night!
The sunset is a distant memory as I have slid fully into Thursday and the trials I must tackle. Best share it in a photo in hopes everyone else had a great Wednesday and posted about it in @wqednesdaywalk. Now, on to the day and looking forward to a #MarketFriday tomorrow!
Thanks again for walking with me! Soon there will be warmer #wednesdaywalk adventures to share as spring finally arrives.
