We go into the inner wonders of El Nicho, "The Passage of the Butterflies," a trail that leads directly to the park's main waterfall, "Desparramaderas," which is the main center of attention for visitors.

The water plunges from more than 30 meters and crashes against the rocks, forming whirlpools of foam that wrap the surroundings in a persistent mist, ideal for taking unforgettable photographs of the place.

It is astonishing, the spectacle before your eyes. There were many social media content creators and nature lovers in general, recording videos to share the beauty of this waterfall.

My brother and I took several photographs of the trip, although sometimes we felt embarrassed because of the number of people, since we are not ones to take many photos of ourselves. The loud sound of the water falling from several meters high announces its presence. Upon arriving here, the first thing one decides to do is take photos: It is a beautiful place.

Then we decided to go down the trail to have coffee and eat some nuts that were being sold at the ranchón at the entrance. The coffee cost 150 pesos and the nuts, 200 Cuban pesos; but at least I enjoyed it to continue the journey.

The center is completely clean, organized, and careful with nature in general. There were rustic baskets around to dispose of visitors' trash, as well as workers with good customer service. From what I saw, the center belonged to the Cuban Agency Gaviota.

The trip included lunch for a cost of 7 USD or its equivalent in national currency, but my brother and I decided not to pay for it and instead visit the local Creole restaurants on our own.

They were approximately one kilometer from the park, but we walked, and that way we got to know more of the natural beauty and the extensive vegetation.

I tried to capture with my lens everything around me: houses, trees. I really liked this excursion, because I wanted to show Hive that in Cuba there are still beautiful places to share, and I will try to go to each one of them to bring them to the travelers' community.

The local farmers mentioned that if we were looking for something more authentic and with more personal service, this is the hidden gem: the Paladar "Las Yaguas." But when we arrived, they told us that the meals were reserved and that they had no more lunches available.

Well then, we visited "El Campesino" Restaurant, highly recommended by visitors with a good appetite; it stands out for the variety of its offerings, its moderate prices, and its friendly service.

Its menu combines breaded fish, lamb, ropa vieja, chicken, rabbit, jutía, boiled root vegetables, vegetable salad, different types of rice, and fried plantain, among other delicacies.

In addition to the food, they offer you a tour of their fruit, ornamental, and vegetable garden, where you can see their pets (including a singing parrot and fish). It is an experience very close to rural Cuban culture.

All the food preparation is done in view of the customers, with super delicious smells and as Creole as possible.

I'll tell you that neither the fruit bananas nor the caldoza were part of the payment: they were totally free, you could take and consume them as many times as you wanted.

Although with the hunger we had, we forgot to photograph the lunch (hahaha), I will tell you that everything was exquisite and that I would repeat it a thousand times more. A quality restaurant, both for its dishes and for its staff.

After lunch, we rested for about 30 minutes and went again to visit the Desparramaderas waterfall.

The part of the Sierra del Escambray that corresponds to Cienfuegos is the richest area from a scenic point of view in the province, due to the variety of nature, in which mountains alternate with forests or valleys.

This time I did decide to climb up to the waterfall and enjoy the water falling from those heights. At first I climbed with fear, because I thought I was going to slip on the rocks, but nothing happened; they were available to capture the unforgettable moment from the very top.

There are a lot of waterfalls and water jumps, all beautiful and spectacular, but without a doubt this is the main attraction for the visitor.

To conclude this last part of the tour through "El Nicho" park, I'll tell you that it was a truly beautiful excursion filled with hiking. The Desparramaderas waterfall, one of the largest and most famous in Cuba, well deserves another visit; and being able to enjoy a delicious country lunch gave the perfect final touch to the trip.

This fresh oasis bathed by crystal-clear waters is not easily forgotten: it preserves the richness of its biodiversity and gives its beauty to the world, without the worry that its environment could deteriorate.
