The lioness crept up behind the herd of gazelle. Her tongue rolled around her lips as she laid in the brush to conceal her presence. The smallest of the gazelles began to stray from the pack, and the lioness’ eyes widened as her prey selected itself. The gazelle ripped up some of the grass from the arid ground, its eyes dancing around the surroundings.
Crawling forward, the brush shook slightly and the gazelle reared its head. The rest of the herd were none the wiser. Waiting for the gazelle to return to eating, her claws sunk into the dry mud beneath her paws, ready for her attack. The gazelle’s head sunk and the lioness continued, her mouth salivating in anticipation.
Quick as a flash, the lioness lunged forward and struck out at the gazelle with her hefty claws. Cutting deep into its flesh, the gazelle let out a meek bleat as the lion’s jaws wrapped around its neck. The other gazelles fled at the monstrous sight as the lioness dragged its catch into the brush. Her tail whipped away at the flies as she prepared the area to feast on her meal.
