The humidity was cloying, the heat an oppressive weight hanging over each of the adventurers. Their march had led them to the south of Sceptre Isle, to an old maisonette left abandoned some hundred years ago. Down the road, the sound of children enjoying the summer break barely just reached Sara’s ears, as well as the occasional chiming of the street cars’ bells reminding them that they were still in the city.

Reaching into her rucksack, Sara pulled out her composite bow, punching it out in front of her to extend it to its full length. Looking to the maisonette’s upstairs window, Sara could see a flickering light in its corner, flashing back and forth and projecting a subtle light onto the well shaded street. Drawing an arrow onto her bow string, she followed the lights refractory angle, spotting a window being swiftly closed as her gaze fell upon it.

Taking a moment to steady her aim, she took a deep breath and held it in her chest. The string twanged as the arrow was released, careening towards the glass. It shattered on impact, smothering the sound of its true intention.

The front door of the offending building swung open, as two lithe and well-equipped people stepped out into the street.

“That was a good shot, Sara. So good, that you’ve done the hard part of flushing out our targets,” Garrick swung his axe over his shoulder, patting its grip on his hand.

“Thanks, Garrick.” Sara notched another arrow, aiming it towards the closer of the two shadowy individuals.
