CCC's Street Art Contest #319 - Walls, Colors, and Letters / Paredes Colores y Letras

Today I want to show you a series of graffiti pieces I came across during my vacation in La Guaira. They are a clear and compelling example of how color, art, and imagination can find their way through the city’s concrete landscape. Here, in a forgotten spot—on what I believe was a perimeter wall—I found a series of artistic expressions that were, without a doubt, incredible.

Hoy les quiero presentar una serie de grafitis que me encontré durante mis vacaciones en La Guaira, Ellos son la muestra clara y contundente de que el color, el arte y la imaginación se pueden abrir paso en medio del concreto de la ciudad. Acá en un lugar olvidado, sobre lo que creo que era un muro perimetral se encontraban una serie de manifestaciones artísticas que sin lugar a duda eran increíbles.

I don’t know if the earthquake has knocked down this wall and its artwork no longer adorns this spot; these images may be the visual memory of a reality that once existed here. All of this is just speculation, since I honestly don’t know what condition this area is in, but from what’s being reported in the news, Tanaguarena was severely battered by nature.

No sé si el terremoto ha derribado este muro y sus trazos ya no adornan este lugar, imágenes pueden ser la memoria gráfica de una realidad que en algún momento estuvo presente. Todo esto es una divagación ya que a sinceridad no sé en qué condiciones se encuentra esta zona, pero por todo lo que se dice en las noticias Tanaguarena fue duramente castigada por la naturaleza.

But just as urban art broke the monotony of a wall and overcame urban stereotypes, so too is the spirit of the people of Guaire—a community that has learned to withstand the harshest adversities, challenges that seem impossible, and the trials of an indomitable nature. Therefore, I am certain that this is a city that will rise from the ashes, always with a greater and stronger spirit, and hopefully this time there will be more room for urban art, spontaneous designs, clear messages, and bold strokes.

Pero así como el arte urbano rompió con la monotonía de una pared y prevaleció sobre los estereotipos citadinos, así es el gentilicio del guaireño, un pueblo que ha aprendido a resistir las adversidades más fuertes, los retos que parecen imposibles y las desavenencias de una naturaleza que es indomable. Por lo tanto estoy seguro de que se trata de una ciudad que renacerá de las cenizas, siempre con un espíritu más grande y fuerte y ojalá que en esta oportunidad haya más espacio para el arte urbano, los diseños espontáneos, los mensajes claros y los trazos firmes.
