Hello everyone! I'm back with another drawing today.
It is Inktober Day 6 and today's prompt is 'Ogre'.
So I wanted to draw my favourite ogre and undoubtedly it is Shrek. I love the movie as it was something different and had the fairytale element at the same time. I enjoy that kind of theme because it takes me back to my childhood when I watched similar animated cartoons and movies. I also love the music that plays in the beginning of the story. It is called Fairytale and became the official theme song in all other DreamWorks movies later on.
This drawing wasn't like my other Inktober sketches because I couldn't be ambiguous with the drawing I chose. The appearance is set in stone as I specifically wanted to draw Shrek. So it was little stressful as I wanted to get it close at least. I started the drawing with the eyes.
Then, I drew his large nose. I didn't even make any grid lines I usually make for drawings made after a certain cartoon or character. It was a completely a freehand drawing.
Next, I drew his smile which was really wide and happy. I think I went overboard with the smile lines though but I felt relieved after this as the most challenging part was over.
After that, I drew his head. I made some tiny dots at some parts before connecting them so that I can get the proportion close to the Shrek character. Then, I added a few more touch ups like some darkening of features on his face. I mainly adjusted his eyebrows to make the arch a little higher.
Finally, I drew his outfit which is a white top paired with a dark brown vest. I did a ton of lines and some cross hatches to darken his vest. This is the final outcome of my effort. This was definitely a fun drawing experience as it looks somewhat close to the Shrek character. I expected it to be worse but it wasn't so bad.
I'm just listening to the beautiful music again. Please check the tune out if you like. It was composed beautifully. Thank you for dropping by and have a wonderful day ahead!
