Hello everyone! The haze in my region of Malaysia which is Kuala Lumpur, is finally gone. After dealing with it for three months, it feels great to be able to see distant mountains and buildings again. I also missed the blue skies as it always looked so gloomy and dull with all the smoke forming a thick blanket and engulfing the entire sky. Now we are almost at the end of October and it's back to being blue like it was before the haze. I was surprised to see the drastic change because I expected it to be gradual and not a sudden switch to HD vision.
The reason why the haze has passed is because of the onset of the Northeast Monsoon which caused a shift in the direction of the wind. It also rained heavily daily the last two days and today as well. So the source of the problem is still present as the agricultural burning is still going on in Indonesia. But this gives a temporary relief for us here in Malaysia especially the Peninsula for now. I hope the other parts too can experience that.
I was going through a rural area in Ulu Yam where there are many waterfalls and camping sites. It was cloudy and hazy for a long time, though not as bad as Kuala Lumpur. The part with the trees is an actual forest area and there's no cell reception there. The telco line becomes zero at some point. I've also seen snakes and many monkeys there. Also once, a video went viral because some wild horses came out of the forest.
Here's a little river. I have always tried to capture it but this is the first time I got the photo at the middle section while crossing the bridge.
Just look at the resplendent sun shining! This is not even it's peak as it starts descending at the time I took the pictures which is in the evening past 4pm yesterday. These pictures were taken in the Gombak mountain area. Speaking of Gombak, it has the longest quartz ridge in the world. My current home also falls in the same district and there are mountains all around. It's probably why it used to rain daily here, until some developments started happening and some mountains were cut off.
Here's a glimpse of the KL skyline post haze. I took the picture from my place before going out. Now I can no longer smell the smokey air and can give my lungs a chance to breathe cleaner air. Hopefully it will last long.
Thank you for dropping by and I wish you a great day ahead!
