The idea was simple, to take a break from the hustle and bustle of historical visits, hidden chapels, breathtaking viewpoints and castles that make us think of armor and kings with long beards. I needed a moment of more “down-to-earth” contemplation, with my feet firmly on the sidewalk, my head in the clouds and my heart in my pocket, and that’s how I let myself be guided to Jardim Ilídio Alves de Araújo, in Celorico de Basto.

I was taken to Bayon Temple to see the grandeur of this temple with hundreds of Buddha faces inside, including on the wall carvings right above the temple. I think this is one of the differences between Bayon Temple and other temples because all the Buddha faces are clearly recorded and carved on the top of the temple.
