Laborie Wine Estate, located in the heart of South Africa's Paarl Valley, has a rich history dating back to 1691. Originally granted to French Huguenot Jean du Toit, it became known for its high-quality wines. Over the centuries, Laborie has evolved into one of the country's premier wine estates, blending tradition with innovation to produce award-winning wines admired worldwide. Its legacy continues to thrive through sustainable farming and expert winemaking practices.

A visit to the Laborie Wine Estate in Paarl was the perfect getaway for my mother and me. Nestled in the heart of the Cape Winelands, Laborie’s charm is hard to beat. The estate offers a delightful blend of wine, food, and a beautiful atmosphere, making it an ideal place to unwind and connect.

Outside Suzanne

We began our day at Suzanne’s Coffee Shop, where the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and baked goods greeted us. It’s a cozy spot with a warm, inviting atmosphere—perfect for enjoying a light lunch. We had a roast beef sandwich.

Afterward, we strolled around the estate, taking in the views of the vineyards, and majestic mountains surrounding us. Laborie is a place where nature and history merge effortlessly. We headed to The Stoep, the estate’s restaurant, to check it out for a future lunch. The setting was picturesque, with a large outdoor patio offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

The estate also boasts a Farmers Market, which we explored after lunch. Here, we found everything from fresh vegetables to artisanal gifts, homemade jams, and unique local crafts. We even stopped by a butcher selling high-quality cuts of meat. It was a delightful mix of farm-to-table goodness, with a touch of local culture and flair.
