https://Worldmappin.com is a map where any blogger on Hive can pin his posts to the blockchain. Worldmappin is currently used by almost all travel bloggers on Hive with a huge community of 13500 Hivians at created/hive-163772.
It is used in two ways.
A. The bloggers love that they have their world map with their pins on it. Each Hivian has his unique world map like https://worldmappin.com/@detlev where he can pin all his travels and his memories
B. All Travelers use it to find information and inspiration for their next trips and use it as a travel guide.
Thanks to @detlev for sharing his travel memories via https://worldmappin.com/@detlev
Worldmappin is the re-birth of Pinmapple which stopped by the former management by end of May 2024. We agreed with the former management to take over the project with a mainly new and partly old team.

We will develop the project further, and add new functions for communities, topics, and other people on Hive.
We will maintain the community with 13500 Hivians and the Discord community with 1250 people and we will use a dedicated team for a clear communication.
All the new infrastructure for the map, pinning service, and curation tool have to be created.
The servers, domains and subdomains, and other licenses for the server need to be bought and organized. The existing code must be checked, partly updated, and transferred to new servers and backup machines. All this is nearly done as the service is working.
All this infrastructure needs to be tested and managed and some security management by our operation team and the monitoring tools need to be activated and tested. We plan to have a standby system and a staging system for all future developments.
We will restart with the curation for the community. That means we will recruit new curation team members, and teach them how to use the curation tool and manage the curation trail.
Therefore we will grow the @worldmappin account with the help of the community with some more delegation to grow the voting power for quality posts.
We will ensure the infrastructure works fine and the curation team will grow to a group of people who ensure the quality stays.
The community on Hive and Discord will be managed more actively and for example get some more activities, features, structure, and continuous information.
Together with the community and the team of developers, we will create a list of doable new „feature and function“ for the next version of Worldmappin. We like to offer functionality to integrate maps for communities or other apps and we even think into a direction of an own mobile app.
at Hive Meetup Aachen and Hivefest in Split, @detlev and @lizanomadsoul will talk about the status, and development ideas and discuss them with the community. So that step by step we can develop the project further and achieve our big goal and bring the @worldmappin service to a new level.
In this phase the clear plan of our „feature and function“ list will be developed and tested to a new level of „pinning“
The development team will start to build new features, test it and we will announce this by the worldmappin account to the hive community
Offer the worldmappin project on GitHub as Open Source project
Talk outside the existing Hive community about the project to connect more people to Hive
Back in August 2017, the first version of Pinmapple (Steemitworldmap) started. @detlev was one of the first 10 users pin a post to the map. Since then, the map had 114,030 pins from 5,459 Hive users added to the database. 32,971 of them are curated as good or best by the Pinmapple curation team, which released a Travel Digest with the best of the day almost every day. The Hive Community counts 13709 subscribers. It is under the top 10 communities in terms of size and activity.
@detlev has not only been one of the first, but also one of the most loyal and active users of the map in the past 7 years. He is mostly known as "The beer guy" as he started and runs #beersaturday and he is also involved in many other projects and topics on HIVE. Over the years he has been very engaging at several communities, was moderator and key note speaker at Hivefest and loved to support new ideas, new users and communities.
@lizanomadsoul is also a member of Hive since 2017. She almost started at the same time as @detlev. Back then she was travelling around the world and therefore was pinning her posts to the map a lot. She and martibis met in Krakow and traveled together a few times. When steemitworldmap migrated from Steem to #Hive and pinmapple was born, she was already was part of the projects team. She was also involved in a few other projects on the chain, supported new users, helped Hivebuzz to migrate and grow, organized meetups and After Fest Travels, attended many Hivefests and is also well-connected in the community.
When we heard the project would be stopped, our decision took only a second and we started to do everything needed to ensure it would survive. We will also do our best to get closer to our big goal of achieving the next level step by step.
The project starts with a fresh team of Hivians.
Until today we have to follow people with the project
Together we will do our best to follow the plan and keep you updated.
Thanks for supporting us!
Special thanks to @martibis who created the project way back in 2017 and was running it until May 2024. A big thanks as well to @livinguktaiwan and the rest of the team such as @choogirl and @itchyfeetdonica , for all the great work with the project over the years making this community grow while maintaining this quality! Thanks for your support and trust, handing over the legacy, so we can go on with this project.
This proposal request covers current and future infrastructure and human resources costs so that @Worldmappin can continue to run.
The operational budget is created by the needs we see today and the estimated costs for all the upcoming developments with several developers. We will use a bit of the budget as well to market the project and #Hive at many other places to gain more users for Hive.
We like to start as small as possible to be able to cover costs.
Therefore we ask 85 HBD per day.
All this is based on the following elements:
