Wat Tha Ka Rong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Thailand, A centuries-old temple that has been restored.
Hello everyone. How are you today? I hope all is well with you and your family. In this post, I am going to take you on a tour of a centuries-old temple in my country. This temple is called "Wat Tha Ka Rong." Before I take you to see some atmosphere of this temple, let me share a brief history of this ancient place. While it's true that the temple dates back hundreds of years, its current appearance is the result of extensive contemporary renovations. Over the years, the temple grounds have been heavily rebuilt and filled with vibrant modern art, new many sculpture, and upgraded facilities, which completely masks its ancient origins. This temple has undergone multiple restorations, including two official ones. Wat Tha Ka Rong is situated in Ayutthaya Province. No historical records remain to show who established the temple or when it was built. But this temple was constructed in the Ayutthaya era, a historical kingdom of the past in Thailand. Unconfirmed records suggest that this temple was constructed prior to AD 1549, or over 477 years ago. Wat Tha Ka Rong currently covers the combined areas of two historical temples, Wat Tha and Wat Ka Rong. The present-day site of Wat Tha Ka Rong sits on the original grounds of Wat Tha, while Wat Ka Rong was located to the south. Today, all that remains of Wat Ka Rong are a buddha image, the ruins of a pagoda, and a single statue of a crow. Therefore, the name "Wat Tha Ka Rong" is a combination of the names of both temples (Wat Tha and Wat Ka Rong). This is an interesting brief history of this temple that I found on the website of the ayutthaya provincial office of buddhism.
The interior of Wat Tha Ka Rong features a unique atmosphere, richly adorned with a diverse range of statues, Buddha images, and holy sculptures. The famous and beautiful principal buddha statue enshrined in the temple's buddha image hall (viharn) is known as Luang Phor Yim, which means "The Smiling Buddha" The temple is located right by the river, where you can enjoy the waterfront atmosphere. If the river hadn’t overflowed its banks today, I would have taken some photos of the scenery for you to see. I took my daughter and granddaughter to visit this beautiful temple. Here are a few vibes of the nice and peaceful atmosphere. We had so much fun and felt completely blessed by this trip.
These are the stories and photos I want to share for this post. Invite everyone to see and enjoy my stories and photos. Please forgive any errors/mistakes. Have a great day. See you next time. Thank you for your support and visiting my post. Bye 🤗
