Hello needlework community 馃尲
Purple馃挏, a colour that depicts so many things with royalty, luxury and ambition on the top of the list. For some reasons, I resonate purely with the colour as it has this warm and soothing mien.
Few months ago, I saw a very beautiful plus size crochet cardigan made and shared by a very talented crocheter in the #needleworkmonday community. The colours were really striking and her work was really neat and admirable. All I wanted was to make myself one. But then I thought, I have a good number of large size cardigans which I do not wear so frequently. What if I did something different? Something that I don't have? And this is when the idea of making a slim fit cardigan was born.
Before making it, I already envisioned that this was going to be one of my favourite crochet items to wear, so why not make it in a colour that I would feel comfortable in? Purple.
Contrary to the large sizes, slim fit cardigans can actually be worn at any time and can be paired with any cloth ranging from skirts to pants to joggers, you name it.
Since this cardigan isn't going to be off of my skin, I decided to use half double crochet stitches. This is to ensure my stitches are close enough to avoid revealing skin.
For this project, there would be five parts in total. First, the two front panels. The front panel has a square neckline. Since it's going to be a bottom up cardigan, I made bottom holes on one part of the front panel and on the second part, I left it. I would be attaching the bottoms later on. I want to choose very beautiful looking bottoms as they would contribute to the aesthetics of the cardigan.
The back panel. This side is basically plain. Just sixty-four rows of half double crochet stitches. This being said, the back panel is going to be fully covered. If I do make any minor changes along the line, I would let you know.
The last part would be the long sleeves. These sleeves would reach my wrist. I was thinking of making the end like a funnel which may end at my phalanges. This hasn't been settled yet and I would love to hear your views on it too. Do you have any special ideas for sleeves?.
I feel this would be a really beautiful project on completion and I just can't can't wait to see what it would look like. What do you think of the idea?
During the shoot, I met a little friend who seemed really happy and picture worthy. A grass growing in-between gravels. I usually admire such grasses due to their resilience. Growing and thriving in gravel is undoubtedly admirable.
Till next time, have a lovely day.
