Hello everyone ✨

It feels great to be here once again to share my #needlework with people who cherish and adore needlework. For today, I would be sharing a regular–but not so regular– crochet project with you.

After my last crochet outfit, I got so much love from everyone both offline and online. I would really like to say a big thank you to everyone who in one way or the other appreciated the outfit. I love you all. I placed a few pictures on my other social media and about three people slid into my dm and asked if I could remake the outfit for them.l in the exact same colour.

It was really heartbreaking to turn them down but I had already made a promise to improve and I had to keep that promise. However, my sister didn't back down. She kept pestering me till I finally gave in. She asked me to make a top for her and she sent a picture of what she wanted. Since she's family, making her a top wouldn't be so bad and I wouldn't be breaking my promise directly:). I also saw it as an opportunity to improve. With that, I set out to make the top.

The top is made in two different panels; the front panel and the back panel. After making both panels, I joined them together using single crochet stitches.

If you notice, I worked lengthwise. For the front panel I made sixteen rows using double and single crochet stitches alternatively. I had to alternate the stitches so that she wouldn't have issues while trying on the top.

After making sixteen rows for the shoulder, I made a reduction of nine chains for the neckline. I kept reducing for an additional six rows and when I was confident that the neckline was okay and wide enough, I made another reduction of five chains to aid the crocheting of the heart at the centre. I made half of the heart and then switched colours. Just like the reference, she wanted two different colours but since she's into darker colours, black and maroon were the best fit. Just to give the heart a more uniform shape, I made a row of single crochet stitches round it.

After switching colours, I basically repeated the same pattern for the other half of the outfit. The difference however was that I made increases instead of reductions on the other half of the front panel.

Constructing a heart on a dress wasn't something I felt was going to be easy. I thought of making the dress fully and then carving out a heart shape in the centre; probably the worst idea I have ever had😄. In the end, making the heart shape wasn't that hard. It just involved six rows of reduction and another six rows of no reduction.

For the back panel, I repeated the same process as the front panel. Only, this time around, I wasn't going to make a heart shape. So I just continued without any reduction and in no time, I was done with the back panel.

To couple, I used single crochet stitches but ensured that I kept space for the arm holes. From what you've seen so far, what do you think the sleeves of the top would look like? Short or long?

After joining both panels, I ran out of yarns so I decided to give it a break. I would be getting new yarns by tomorrow so this project would possibly be done by Wednesday. At this point, it looks very much like a vest. A very stretchy vest.

Before rounding up, I would like to hear your views. Do you like the colour combination? How about the stitches used?.

Till next time, have a lovely day and do not forget to spread kindness like confetti.
