Hello everyone ✨
I was recently contracted to make a few pairs of crochet earrings for bridesmaids and this was such an honour. I love it when people think of creative and thoughtful gifts, and the bride who contracted me for this collection has been nothing short of thoughtful, especially with details and colours.
Today, I would be sharing with you one of the pairs of earrings and some easy steps on how to recreate it. This was one of my favorite pairs of earrings to make, and my client also requested it in three different colours. Without further ado, let's get into the materials needed and the process.
Materials Needed
🤍: Yarns(two colours of your choice)
🤍: 3.5mm crochet hook
🤍: Darning Needle
🤍: Cutter
🤍: Earring hook and jump rings
🤍: Jewelry pliers
The Process
To make the earrings I made use of two strands of 3-ply acrylic yarn(6-ply in total).
First, make a chain of twelve and join the ends to form a ring. This step can also be done using a magic ring but with a magic ring, the first row may not be as thick.
Next, without any turning chains, make twenty-four single crochet stitches into the ring. End the row with a slip stitch into the very first single crochet stitch.
Then, without any turning chain again, make twenty-four double crochet stitches over the single crochet stitches and into the same ring. End the row with a slip stitch into the very first double crochet stitch.
N/B This step is where some people get it wrong because they work their double crochet stitches into the space of the single crochet stitches. Instead, the double crochet stitches should go over the single crochet stitches and into the ring as well.
For the next row, make a chain of two and slip stitch into the next chain space. This row consists of two chains and slip stitches. This should be repeated till the end of the row. End the row with a slip stitch.
N/B: When cutting off the yarn, leave a long tail for sewing in later.
This would bring you to the end of the first half of the crochet earring.
The second half is going to follow the same exact steps as the first half but with a little tweak.
The Tweak
For the second part of the crochet earring, change the yarn colour and make a chain of twelve again. Pass one end of the chain through the middle of the already completed half of the earring and slip stitch to join.
Proceed to make twenty-four single crochet stitches round the chain. End the row with a slip stitch.
Then, twenty-four double crochet stitches round the single crochet stitches. End the row with a slip stitch.
Finally, make a row of slip stitches and two chains. End the row with a slip stitch. Remember to leave a long enough strand of yarn for weaving in.
The next step is to gently join both circles at the back to ensure they remain in position. This should be done neatly, without making the yarn visible. Cut off any excess yarn.
The last step is to add the earring hooks using your jewelry plier and you're done with your earring.
Repeat the above steps to get the second pair of the earring.
If you didn't double the yarn, there would be a need to make the earrings stand firm but otherwise, the earrings should take form and be firm enough.
I absolutely love how this pair of earrings turned out and the colour combination is just superb. What do you think of this piece of art?
