Hey whats up Steemcats
Hello my name is Wildabeast and maybe i should have done this as my first post, but sum times i just jump in to writing if i am exited about it!! I cant help it,i just love to write. That said i am not the best at grammar, spelling, and where the commas go,but i love to write. Mostly about my experiences or whatever i find funny or worth writing about? Right now in my life i am a 45 year old comedian and sum say homeless? I like to call it alternative living by choice. I went to burning man in 2012 and fell in love with the people, art, style, and the idea of burning twenty four seven.
I thought about living in a vehicle for i know a lot of people are doing that nowadays and it seems fun and like a really good way to see the world. Sum thing i definitely will want to try later on,but for now i like just being in a backpack. I love that i can go anywhere without having to many issues. An yes don't sell your house just yet for this is a life of trade offs and not for everybody. For when it really gets hot out. There's times when i wish i had a house to seek refuge in. Or when its raining for a week straight it can get a little bit old and definitely wet.
Why do i subscribe to this lifestyle madness...The best way to make the case for this lifestyle begins with my past. I have tried working for other people in go nowhere jobs and that's exactly where i got ...nowhere. Making enough to live but not much more. The next thing i tried was to make my way to the good life by selling drugs. This part of my life went on for fourteen years and way out of control. I made a lot of money, bought a house, cars, women, and mostly whatever i wanted. To be fair "whatever" wasn't exactly in reach all the time, but if i wanted sum thing i could get it. Sum things just took longer than other things but the bottom line was i could have it if i wanted it. I'm sorry if that paragraph makes me sound like a dick but back then that's what i was.
Not to say those fourteen years were a waste. I did learn a lot about how the world works and what money can really do? For if you have it then you can do more than the person without it. By that i mean you can make doors open that are normally closed, buy influence, shape opionions, get outta jail free cards. Or just buying people and favors to get what you want done. This part of my life went on far to long. Most of the good friends i had became shitty people or just plain old addicts. For most of them are now living the american dream of methadome and colanapins everyday.
So that brings me to now. What happened to me was. One day i was sitting around at home. When a friend came over and told me about this thing called "Occupy". At the time i had never voted, cared or even thought about any thing other than myself, but i was looking for a reason to leave this once home. The next day i asked another friend of mine who was going to Boston. If he would bring me to this thing called Boston Occupy and he said yes.
I remember that day we went to Boston as if it were yesterday. We were in his car and driving around this encampment that was between two freeways. After about the third time around circling this encampment my friend asked me if i was gonna get out? To be honest i can still remember starring out the window of his car at all the dirty, banged up,fucked up, crazy looking homeless tent dwellers. Who knew who the fuck these people were?? It took one more ride around to finalize my decision to stay. In hindsight it was one of the best moves i ever made in my life.
It was the first time ever in my life where i said yes to the unknown. My friend pulled over to the side of the freeway. Where i grabbed the two backpacks i had packed. Then grabbed my balls to make sure they were still there. Then without knowing I said goodbye to my friend and old life and hello to my new one. I slowly walked into the camp until coming up to a person who was just standing there smiling doing nothing. I told him that i was new and wanted to help whatever this was and that i wasn't going to go back to my old life. He then said his name was Tommy, shook my hand and said welcome. To what?? I had no fucking idea?? He then brought me in to the camp....It took awhile to get use to everything. For i was use to having my own place and doing whatever i wanted. What i wasn't use to was all these fucked up people being so close to me. Tenting between two freeways as if it was normal. Marching, screaming, running wild threw the streets when ever sum body felt like it was a good time to have a march?? For all the drunks, drug addicts, college kids, travelers, normies, and homeless people made for a very weird and interesting group. One thing that was said to me by this guy named Caleb was that it didn't matter what, where, or how you were living? The fact was that any place could be a shit hole, its just a matter of what you do with it.
He said for you can always find beauty in the darkness and there will always be darkness in beauty. And for whatever the reason i believed him. Maybe it was the fact that we were from the same shit hole, and anything was better, but that day i found the beauty in sitting on the pavement. I found the beauty in marching threw the streets. I found the beauty in breaking bread with strangers. I found the beauty of putting sum thing before myself and most of all i found the beauty in just being free. Ill leave the other things for the next post.
Thanx
