So living on a beach doesn't allow me the chance to be a hero to often, but what it does allow me to be is a sorta lorax type fellow. I say lorax because i do live in an igloo made of sandbags nestled in the grip of a eucalyptus tree. That said I try to respect trees and nature as much as i can. Everyday i pick up at least one piece of trash when leaving the beach. An all the while trying to do this without ever being seen to much. For burning 24/7 as a lifestyle can be truly an art form, and full of surprises....This is one such story of one of those real life true surprises that took place on the night of 9/22/17.

I had just got done smoking a joint while watching a beautiful orange blue sunset drop into the ocean. It was a little after 8 by the time i decided to go to home. I gathered up my things and left the nice little nook i was nestled in. Then started towards my igloo. While walking i could see up ahead of me a bright light twisting and turning up and down the trail. Flickering on and off into the distance. The light itself seemed to be moving in the same direction as i had to go.
Because it was pretty dark out i decided to slow my feet. For i didn't want to come up on anyone to quickly. One for the fact I didn't know if they were other homeless people and I didn't want to scare them. Or secondly what if they were normal people just out for a late night hike? I didn't want to run up on them, out in the middle of nowhere carrying my two grocery bags of food. So i decided to go very slow, but no matter what i did to stall. I still found myself getting closer and closer to that slow moving light. Now almost at my destination. I had one more hill to go over and then i would be home.

The problem was by this point,i was already almost up to that slow moving light, and already starting to feel like a stalker. For the waiting was all but killing me. For the wind was howling and the weather was breezy cold, misty and wet. All i wanted to do was to get home to my igloo! It seemed like it was good to go forward, but i wasn't sure? For i still couldn't see over the hill to see how close they were? I tried to listen for any voices, but the wind was too loud. When suddenly out of nowhere. I saw a light appear over the hill and started coming towards me. I said in a firm loud voice"hello i'm just hiking and i don't want to startle anyone."
The first person i saw was a woman quickly coming over the hill towards me with the light shining. When she got to me she asked me " did i know where we were?" and i said why are you lost? To which she replied yes all frantic like. Then the next thing i noticed was sum more people coming over the hill one after another. Until i found myself staring at three women, two dudes and two dogs all of them lost. I asked them if they came from a parking lot? Too which they all said yes. So then i turned them around and started to lead them back to the parking lot from where i had just came from. On the way i found out that this wasn't one group of lost people but was two groups of lost people.
Which i found really ironic and made me laugh quietly to myself. Considering the fact that there were five people out here desperately lost and the one person who knew how to get them out was doing everything he could to avoid them. It was just too funny to me. In the end i did get Elaina,Gloria,Derek,Jasper,Kerri, and the two dogs to their cars. Then before we said our thank yous and goodbyes to each other. I asked them if it was alright to take a picture? Which they all said yes and posed for but unfortunately my phone was dead. So i asked if one of them could take the picture and email it to me? Which Gloria said yes she would. But alas i have not yet received it?? So i just wanted all you steamcats to know i did have a really good photo to go with this post and hopefully the photo is still coming via snail mail or sum thing? But if not no worries ill blame it on my gmail. I just wanted to say to you all Elaina,Gloria,Derek,Jasper, and Kerri wherever you are under the stars tonight....Cheers!!!!!
