Y.. yes, I did..

My trip to the famous Korumon market in Shimonoseki, Japan!! This place is an absolute paradise for food lovers like us! and is renowned for its street food which is again, something WE LOVE! During my visit, I had the chance to indulge in some of the most delectable sushi, don, and even tried something HUGE.. - whale!

First things first, let's talk about the sushi. Korumon market is home to some of the freshest sushi you will ever have the pleasure of eating as it's located right on the coast and surrounded 3 sides with the sea! I tried a variety of sushi, including tuna, salmon, saba, eel..

Next up, I had the don, a rice bowl topped with your choice of meat or fish. I opted for the sea urchin and salmon roe don and was blown away by the sea urchin. The texture and flavor of it was simply-out-of-this-world melt in your mouth. A little bitter and fishy though if you can tell.

Now, let's talk about the elephant in the room, the whale! Whale meat is a controversial food item, but it is still consumed in some parts of Japan, including Shimonoseki. I was not hesitant to try it, in fact, I made my way there to Shimonoseki to try it! I tried both whale sushi and deep-fried whale, and to my surprise, it was actually quite tasty. The meat was similar in texture to beef, but had a slightly fishy taste.

Oh, I also tried something that might sound a bit... unusual - fish sperm sushi! Yes, you heard that right. It might not be for everyone, but I wanted to give it a try since it's a delicacy in Japan. It's called "shirako" and is the sperm sac of a fish.

I have to admit, I was a bit apprehensive about trying it, but when in Rome, right? So, I took a deep breath and took a bite. Surprisingly, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It had a slightly sweet and creamy taste, similar to a rich custard. It was definitely a unique experience, and I don't think I'll be trying it again, but I'm glad I gave it a shot.

Fishy adventure at Korumon market, trying all sorts of delicious and interesting street food. From fresh sushi to don to whale and even fish sperm sushi, I tried it all. NO REGRET EVEN WITH FISH SPERM! If you're a foodie especially seafoodie :D, then Korumon market is definitely a must-visit.
